The real Cesare Morini and his grips

I just want to share my great day.

Today I drove to Parma, to visit Cesare Morini, founder of the famous swiss company which carries his name, and now back to Italy with his new company Match Guns.

I was adviced by many old experienced shooters in Germany to get a custom grip made by Cesare Morini and nobody else.
And now I know why!

I went with the terrible grip of the LP10E. The grip gave me a horrible feeling in the hand (which i discussed in 2 other posts in here), never tried any thing as bad as that. I was about to give away the LP10E after only 10 days of use!

Also, we discovered that you cannot even adjust the grip using the specific screws in the body of the pistol, without touching the wood with the rear sight! What a disappointment for a great and expensive pistol!!

Any way, Cesare Morini made a masterpiece out of that!

He has worked continuously for 4 hours!!!!!!!!!!!
He nerver watched the time and never rushed.
He kept checking, modifying, filing and adding "microns" of material since he was finally satisfied.

He is a fanatic perfectionist....as much as I am!

The final result.
He has asked me many times to rise my arm, with closed eyes, aiming at him.
Then I had to open the eyes: Front an rear sight were always perfectly aligned.
Moreover he asked me to OPEN THE FINGERS in that position.
Not only the pistol would not fall on the floor, but the front and rear sight remained every single time perfectly aligned even with the fingers not holding the grip!
I COULD ACTUALLY PULL THE TRIGGER WITHOUT HOLDING THE GRIP, and the front an rear sight remained perfectly in line and did not move!!!!!!!
I could not believe this!

The feeling of the grip in the hand is a real dream! What a pleasure to hold it! I do not need to apply any strenght.
I have the feeling that the pistol is simply an extension of the bones of the forarm, and that it is completely weightless.

I feel really sorry for those of you, guys, who are far away (US? Au?), and cannot get such a masterpiece.... If you do come to Italy, don't forget your pistol.... what I got today is not custom made, this is ART!

Now, if I do not match the world record, I'd better give up! ....kidding

Thanks for reporting your great experience. Your comments remind of my recollections and experiences with the old school Hammerli craftsmen, of which there are precious few left.
Despite all the advances in manufacturing, and all the improvements in adjustments, there is still a real need for the skilled craftsman to bring out the pinnacle of refinement.

I agree with you Jim.
I am going to get it laser scanned before something happens!!! I do not want to take risks.... Cesare Morini looks like a very fit person, but he is no 20yo any more! And what a pleasant man.

I am trying to upload, but they are larger than 250k and does not allow .. I am trying to reduce size with iPhone, but so far unsuccessful

I 'think' I normally post my pictures to a hosting site such as photobucket and paste the image file location (url) here. There's certainly a limit to the size of image you can upload directly to the site, it may be 60 or 80K.

However here it says 256k as a limit, and I reduced mine to 200k.

There is an app for IPhone called SimpleResize you can use to reduce the picture size. It is free and pretty easy to use.

What a clamp on the upper and lower parts of backside. No wonder you can let fingers off and still maintain position.

But no adjustable shelf?
