Help with a Pachmayr 400 pistol box

Post by penman53 »

I just bought one of these beauties brand new for 100.00 bucks. It is a great box but how in the world will I mount my scope mount? I don't see any place to do it unless I drill through the door. Does anyone have one of these boxes with the scope mount installed so I can see how to do it without screwing up a brand new box????

Thanks, Mark

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Get a good Gil Hebard adjustable scope mount and attach it to the lid with screws. The old mounts didn't require drilling all the way through the lid (wood screws), but the later ones do, as the screws attach to threaded holes in the mount. You can't be a real bullseye pistol shooter until you have a scope attached to the lid and about a million other things in it an on it. 8^)

Mounting a scope mount

I think I will drill all the way through like you said (I had to do it on my wood box) and then use some fender washers to reinforce where the screw heads go through.

Thanks Mark
