Alas! Relocation to California

Post by topclass52 »

After years of enjoying shooting sports in Washington (state) I find myself relocating to California, not by choice but by necessity. I will be in NorCal, specifically near Tracy, CA. Can someone steer me towards indoor or outdoor 4-Position smallbore (or 3P), 3P air rifle, smallbore bullseye, and air pistol matches?

Thank you for your help!

Welcome to the gun-control mad state of California. Please make sure you read all the crazy laws first. I wish I can live in WA where open carry is legal and no license is required. But then if you are in South Puget, you probably are not a whole lot better.

Anyway, to answer your question:

These clubs all hold official matches. Inquire individual clubs for membership if you are interested.

The ideal club/range for you is Livermore-Pleasanton Rod & Gun Club

There is also the Modesto Rifle Club, however it is private and seemed to have limited offering for the public.

Finally as a public service, please join California Rifle and Pistol Association, which is the lobbying group for pro-2A in California; and Calguns Foundation, which is the support group for legal pro-2A matters in California. They both serve the pro-2A cause but in two separate ways. The former is to lobby, the latter is to sue.
