I've watched the finals in 3P from the world cups and one thing that caught my attention is that many of the shooters have the buttplate placed a long way out on the shoulder or even on the arm when shooting kneeling.
Why is that?
All that I've read about kneeling shooting recommends placing the buttplate as close to the neck as possible.

Personally, i keep it tight in my shoulder, similar to prone, which has given me good scores. Shot a 195 with 10x's today with a scope in kneeling. Don't worry about the placement of the buttplate much, worry about your front foot, as it can make your scores go from 198's to 175's in an instant. You can see your movement better through a scope on the rifle and then adjust your position to make it better. It will never be perfect, but eventually it will get better.
