Pardini SP and Eley Tennex

I will be going away in approximately a month to shoot air and rapidfire pistol. I was told a short while ago that I will be unable to take my own ammunition, SK pistol match and all that will be supplied is Eley Tennex, bog standard not the pistol variety. My Pardini as many others seems not to like eley ammunition, any of it including Eley Pistol Match, have not tried Tennex but will do in a few days, however I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas how to make it cycle e.g. cleaning the gun or ammo, lighter or heavier recoil springs although tennex is a heavier load than the SK I use so my heavier recoil spring should be ok.

Any advice will be tested before going and much appreciated.

My Pardini has functioned 100% since I purchased it 2 1/2 years ago. I have shot Eley Tenex, CCI standard velocity, CCI Green Tag and Federal Ultra Match. However, my Pardini SP is not the rapid fire version. At any rate, it goes without saying that Eley is one of the premier target ammo companies. The folks at Pardini know without doubt that this brand ammo is going to be used in their target pistols. I would be very suprised if Tenex would not cycle properly.

Like I said all ammo unless very low velocity (e.g. RWS Pistol Match SP) goes fine through the gun, it is a standard SP not the rapid fire (For example the RWS ammo works fine through these due to the lighter bolt etc). SK, will shoot thousands and only malfunction for maybe the first 5 shots after a thorough clean, but anything at all eley will not go through my pistol and others at my club have problems with their pardini and eley ammunition, bearing in mind it is the older Pardini's at the club which seem to have this problem. Just been shooting this afternoon, eley match and eley pistol match, both very high end ammos and the shorter recoil spring did help stop it from malfunctioning every few rounds, to none at all, believe that was most likely the problem. Now just to try Tenex.

I have a 15 yr old Pardini and it likes eley just fine. The only issue I have had with eley is sometime the first round will not get stripped out of the mag by the bolt. Other than that I have not had any Eley related problems.

The problems I end up with are when the OAL of the ammo is longer than about 0.880" the second round gets stuck in the magazine. I have even modified my magazines to flatten the bump in the back and I still have issues with some ammo on some days.

Gets a little frustrating.

try replacing the spring on you magazines. They are not that expensive.
A newer spring will be stronger than the one you have (I'm assuming it's 15 years old), and will reduce your hassles with those types of ammo.
I've also found that cleaning the inside of the clip with a nylon brush, and putting a drop of oil in the empty magazine eliminates almost all of those problems.

All pistols being unique, most people at my clubs Pardini's take pistol King, mine wont, I have had the Eley match and Eley pistol match (both with round heads, the match was quite old) working through my gun with a shorter recoil spring. Today I tried new eley match with the flat head and a small nipple (just like Tennex), originally when the gun was clean (mine likes to be dirty) it had two misfeeds however these came from the magazine, oiled the first loaded round each time and no problems, hoping the Tennex goes through fine come next month.

Most pistol disciplines malfunctions aren't a massive issue, but regarding rapidfire, and not having an ammo choice, I just have to hope it goes well as there is not time for messing around!

You could be correct about the spring needing replacement. I will have to give it a try.
