Recommend Hotel in Columbus GA

Post by JJJJJJ »

Don't know if this is the appropriate place ... But here goes, can anyone recommend a good fair priced hotel in Columbus GA for the Nationals?

I heard good things about Holiday inns on Manchester. Any suggestions?

Thank you

Don't know if its the right place, but a good topic! Going for the first time myself. Pete hasn't gotten the discounts set up yet, last I talked to him (Thu). I called the Ft. Benning PAO and got the tip that a new hotel is being built near the Infantry Museum, but google can't help me find it. The enlisted man on the phone recommended staying away from any of the hotels on Victory Dr., bed bugs and late night noises...

Can someone tell me where on base the air pistol events are held? I don't want to rent a car if I don't have too. Some cabs are allowed on base, you have to ask the dispatcher to send one of the cleared drivers.

Hey, JJJJJJ, whaddaya say!

I would probably stay at Evil Evelyn's House of Unspeakable Pleasures. That way I'd have an excuse for screwing up. But a healthy-minded person such as yourself wants something a little more relaxing, I'm sure.

Ask Reiter or Zurek.

I've only been to Benning twice and both times I've stayed at the Double Tree. I definitely recommend it if it's not too far out of budget.

Hotel adjacent to National Infantry Museum

Post by litz10x »

Hello everyone,

I was out at the National Infantry Museum back in March and the new hotel next to the Infantry Museum is open:

Hampton Inn Columbus/South Fort Benning

1776 Legacy Way, Columbus, GA 31903

855-271-3622

Here's the hotel website: http://hamptoninn3.hilton.com/en/hotels ... index.html

FYI: The National Infantry Museum is where the Basic Training graduations are held almost every Thursday and Friday and you may run into finding it difficult to secure rooms with the families of graduates trying to stay there as well.

I would strongly recommend not staying anywhere on Victory Drive. While no place is crime free, the north side of town is certainly better.

If you're looking for a hotel that is decent with easy access right onto I-185 and is near restaurants etc. I would suggest the Holiday Inn - Columbus North-I-185. Here's the site: http://www.ihg.com/holidayinn/hotels/us ... oteldetail

If you have any questions or need additional information, I'm happy to help.

Take care,

Steph

I stay at la Quinta, good price, near the gate.
Nothing fancy,
All I wanted was a clean bed.
Wear ever you stay, get reservations early, sometimes they fill up fast when basic training graduation takes place.
