Shooting Jacket

Post by acrybb »

Hi,

I just bought a brand new, used jacket. (hopefully you spot the joke in there). Anyway im trying to identify its manufacturer so that i can get some cleaning information for it.

It is German as it has German writing on the label describing its material make up. No manufacturer is stated on it. It fits very well and feels fairly solid. it looks like its a few years old and needs a bit of a scrub.

If anyone can help that would be great even if you have just cleaning instructions that would be great.

Thanks
Andy

Thanks

You haven't exactly given a lot of information Andy.

You have a jacket that, that might be German, that fits well. Anyone who can give you the manufacturer from that would need to be prety clever :-)

I'd hazard a guess that the jacket is perhaps a Gehmann? It's the only German manufacturer I can think of. :/

A picture might help us to identify the jacket.

Anschutz, kustermann or kurt thune? Are those not German.

Anyway. It's not that important about the manufacturer more how you clean yours. The manufacturer was more of an off chance thing. There isn't anymore information about it that I can give.

So how about washing ideas I think ill struggle to get it in the machine :)

Thanks folks

Kurt Thune is actually not German, they're made in Finland :)
But yes, Anschütz does make jackets too which I had forgotten about, as well as Kustermann. At the time the only one I could think of was Gehmann.

And people have always recommended me to dry clean mine because the canvas will shrink like no other in a washing machine.

I suspected that would be the case.

Thanks :)

Mouche? Sauer?

It would be more germane (hopefully you spot the joke in there) if you said what fabric the jacket was made of. E.g. Twill, canvas, leather, Cordura or?

Ah, I knew I was forgetting some of the manufacturers. I should have remembered Sauer, I have a glove from them. :)

It's canvas mate. Yes it would probably have been a good idea if I told you material. :). I like what you did there :)

The best way to get an answer, is to post a photo of the coat and a close up of the label.

If there was a label there wouldn't be a thread ;) there is only a material make up label no manufcturer or washing instructions label.

Then post a photo of the coat.
