extract of 2013 rules affecting shooters
I have posted a pdf file http://www.australiancynic.com/2013extract.pdf covering the bits that I have identified as affecting competitors in the pistol events.
undoubtedly I have missed some (David L will kindly let me know - ta, in advance) but this should cover the major bits.

ISSF Rules
Hi Spencer, how many of these new rules will apply under Australian conditions?
I am aware the AISL events will follow to the letter at venues like SISC, but what about 99.9% of the ranges in Australia?
cheers
Brad
P.S
I noticed David M mention the flag, any ideas yet on what that will be???

PA wil change post the Nationals in Perthbrakarzac wrote:Hi Spencer, how many of these new rules will apply under Australian conditions?
50 m will be to AUS conditions - probably 15 minutes then 6 x 18 minutes
Other pretty much as in the ISSF rules (with tinkering to run Finals on paper targets)
At this stage (!) I expect that PA would accept anything that is obvious (and obviously not brass)brakarzac wrote:I noticed David M mention the flag, any ideas yet on what that will be???
I still cannot see how it will work with Toz 36/49 revolvers...

How about Air Pistols Spencer?
I have certainly show open on everything else...
Cheers
Brad
as I understand things, 4H in the USA has requires the 'right through' indicator for some time, but:
- if the chamber is blocked by a flag, why the need for 'right through'
- I (for one) am reluctant to be routinely putting anything down my pistol or rifle barrels other than a cleaning rod/brush or a bore snake - I value my bores. Whipper-snipper cord has been suggested by some, but I know that this can be abrasive...
the 'right through' is only for 10m

Re: extract of 2013 rules affecting shooters
Great work Spencer. I have avoided doing too much until the rules were posted in a normal position on the ISSF web site, which they now are.Spencer wrote:I have posted a pdf file http://www.australiancynic.com/2013extract.pdf covering the bits that I have identified as affecting competitors in the pistol events.

One rule that interests me is 6.3.4 b:-
"Rifle and Pistol Elimination and Qualification Round competitions are scored in full ring values, except that on a provisional basis, Elimination and Qualification Round competitions for 10m Air Rifle Men, 10m Air Rifle Women and 50m Rifle Prone Men events may be scored in decimal
values. Note: The Council will evaluate experiences with decimal scoring of Qualification competitions and decide whether to apply this rule on a permanent basis at the end of 2013.
An insight into the future, even if only for rifle.
Re: ISSF Rules
Seeing as your target changing is "off the clock", wouldn't 6 x 15mins be a more correct. In 10m the target changing is "on the clock" with paper targets so it's understandable to have more time, but when you stop the clock to change the 50m targets surely you don't need extra time?Spencer wrote:50 m will be to AUS conditions - probably 15 minutes then 6 x 18 minutes
Great job Spencer just a couple of comments;
8.4.4.2 only applies to rapid fire pistol
There is also something in the rules about release of gas before sighting and preparation time - which may well have been in the rules before, but I'm sure that said the first 'offence' was just warned with no penalty applied.
8.6.2 and 8.6.3 are inconsistent. You cannot place a box on the table and you can place the box on the table....
Also athlete dress code applies to pistol as well and interestingly 'officials'. Officials though doesn't appear to include coaches as we are mentioned separately.

Rapid Chrono
Where can one find these testing procedures ?8.4.4.1 Velocity testing will be done with a chronograph (velocity
measurement device). The Technical Delegate must confirm the
accuracy of the chronograph in accordance with testing
procedures developed by the ISSF Technical Committee. A
chronograph must be available to athletes on the range.
They dont appear on the ISSF web site.

It used to be a warning for the first gas release during the prep time with a 2 point penalty for subsequent releases.RobStubbs wrote:There is also something in the rules about release of gas before sighting and preparation time - which may well have been in the rules before, but I'm sure that said the first 'offence' was just warned with no penalty applied.
That's now changed to "prior to" the combined prep & sighting time. Still just a warning for the first offense.
http://www.australiancynic.com/2013extract.pdf now with Finals - the Finals Courses-of-Fire are in summary form: doing the same as the other bits was not workable
Good work! But are you sure it says 9.7 somewhere for women's 25m pistol? If so, it's inconsistent with 6.17.5 which says 10.3.Spencer wrote:http://www.australiancynic.com/2013extract.pdf now with Finals - the Finals Courses-of-Fire are in summary form: doing the same as the other bits was not workable
