UltraDot "Extension Tube"

Post by big mouse »

Included with my sight was an item referred to as an "Extension Tube".

It is designed to thread onto the front tube of the UltraDot.

Is this a sunshade for use when shooting outdoors in very bright light?

It's wall thickness is really very thin. If installed, are you able to clamp a ring onto this tube without crushing it?

How do you folks use this thing?

I use them just to keep debris like flying powder and oil off the front lense.

I use one on my 45 because I feel the slight narrowing of the field of view trains me to come back on target better in rapid fire. I have clamped them with rings before and they didn't crush.

The tubes are quite solid. I really like them for those rare occasions where you have an uncovered firing point. It keeps both the sun and the rain off the lens.

Clamping a scope ring to the extension tube is a REAL bad idea.

Kimber, Why you say that?
Been doing 2 rings on front for years now on 22. No problems at all. Won't do it on 45 though
