Dallas TX 10m Pistol

Post by Orion »

Is there any clubs in the Dallas TX area that host 10m pistol events?

I've looked at Shooting Sports USA and have not found much in the US. Where else should I search?

Thanks.

USA Shooting is kind of worthless.

Try the NRA: http://www.nrapublications.org/ssusa/

There's about 4 different states that host 10m pistol as SSUSA advertises. Is there not a site with a bigger directory?

Thanks.

The problem with the SSUSA and USAS match listings is that they show only matches which they have sanctioned. There are many more, but I don't think there's any kind of centralized listing. However there may be localized listings; for example we in the SF Bay Area have a site that lists almost all local matches, sanctioned or not (http://www.califpistolmatches.com/). Have you tried searching Google for "Dallas pistol matches" and the like?

The Haltom city group has regular matches.

The Dallas pistol club has a ten point indoor air pistol/air rifle range with crank target points. The Shooting Stars used to host matches there. The Shooting Stars for some reason were asked to leave. They are at a new location in the Dallas area. There is a 4-H group which now uses the Dallas Pistol Club facility. I am a member of the Dallas Pistol Club and I have not heard the "full story" of why such a great group as the Shooting Stars was asked to leave. All I have heard was, "the DPC charter doesn't allow another club within the club." I question if this 4-H group is now part of the Dallas Pistol Club or if it is a separate club. I do not know. Any club member of the Dallas Pistol Club can shoot AP or AR in the building-apparently not when the 4-H group is using it.

There is a very active group in Oklahoma City. They host monthly AP and AR matches at the H&H Gun Range. http://hhshootingsports.com/
They have six electric carriers in a nice room to train/compete in.

I do not know if you are moving to the area from Seymour Johnson or exactly what you are looking for.

You are always welcome to come visit me and shoot. Come see us in the woods.

Thanks for info,

I spent a lot of free time at the indoor range at Nationals this year and am looking to purchase an air pistol. I'm moving to Dallas in a couple of months and am looking forward to shooting in the area.
