Easier said than done here in Australia, lots of hoops to jump through to import parts with permits required, costs, etc...

It's not that hard really. I've already ordered quite a few 208 and P240 parts from larrysguns. Pretty straightforward. They are ggod to deal with parts are here in just over a week..

The only time you would need a B709 - Australian Import Permit - is for barrels, frames and magazines. And even though I've had import permits for magazines, in the majority of cases they just ended up in my letterbox.

I like the SSP and FAS best so far

Post by Crete »

I am also looking for a match .22 pistol and so far the Walther SSP and the FAS SP607 (which incidently share the magazine loading method), suit me best. I was able to shoot a 545 with the SSP (non-E) and a 529/600 with the first try. I got no further than 525 with the GSP/Expert, Hammerli SP20 RRS, Hammerli 280 and some others.

Try shooting a match or a mock one in training and see how it goes. Follow all the rules and sanctions of a proper match before deciding.

I found that other people's choice of pistol just meant nothing to me whatsovever.

Shooting before buying is the way to go.

I am now planning to test shoot a Pardini and an SSP with E-triggers before making up my mind.

I have to admit that the FAS SP607 was a pleasant surprise and if it were available factory new with a warranty and spare parts backing it, it would have been my ideal choice of standard pistol in .22 cal.

If you want a new one, PM me. I found a distributor in the Czech Republic who has 3 new 607s in stock.

I've bought the black frame one and they still have 1 x silver frame and 1 x red frame 607 left.

Export out of the Czech Republic is easy. Spare parts are plentiful, both here in Australia and direct from Dominoguns in Italy.

Update : I could not decide between the new, unfired FAS 607 and the new model Benelli MP90S .22, so I bought both.

I picked up the Benelli yesterday and the FAS is winging it's way from the Czech Republic.

First impressions of the Benelli: Very impressed with the high build quality and the use of high grade materials in it's construction. Puts my previously owned Pardini SP1 E and Matchguns MG2 to shame in this regard. And the trigger is superior to both. Everything exudes quality, and the user manual is the best I've seen. Logical, clearly laid out and with excellent illustrations. Supplied test target has a 5 shot group of about 6mm at 25m.
