Anschutz 2013 ignition

Post by Sam H »

Hi, I have intermittent ignition problems (misfires) with Eley ammo. I get none with RWS. Is the most likely problem headspace, trigger position on receiver, or gumming in bolt body?

All help appreciated. Head space was .043

Thanks,
Sam

Mine responded to new springs from J&P. You might also check the F.P. protrusion. Depending on shape, it should protrude .024-.026 at the edge.
My original spring rubbed inside the bolt body, the new spring is free. I prefer not to move the trigger to increase the spring pressure/fall distance.

Hi Sam

I also shoot a 2013 and had same experience.
The Eley rim is not as thick as other brands. And if yor firing pin is striking just a little short, that´s when you get misfires.

The easy solution for med was to move the trigger house back max. That makes the firing pin strike a little harder (but also makes the bolt a little harder to close). After that I havn't had a misfire with Eley (before I had one every 20 shots or so).

You can also try to reduce the headspece to 0.42 or .041, if you have the gauges for it.

Or replace the firing pin with a custom made one just for Eley (= slight longer).

Hope this helps

Moved trigger back worked a treat!
