Uses for a leaky air cylinder?

Anybody have any good uses for a leaky air cylinder? I'm sure I'm not the only person with an old air cylinder, what else can you do with them besides recycling the aluminum?

It's usually only the seals that leak, why not just replace the seals and fix it?

Offer to give it away to someone else who is inclined to just replace the seals. That person could pay for the shipping from your place to Pilks and then be responisble for the repair costs and return shipping.

The air cylinder is well over 10 years old. I was told that a) Anschutz does not authorize repairs on air cylinders, and b) air cylinders over 10 years old should be replaced, just like SCUBA tanks.

The US still has the "two and two" (or "two plus two") rule that says that cylinders less than two inches in diameter and two feet long and filled with air or 'inert' gases to some reasonable pressure are exempt from retests. Air cylinders for target guns probably fall in that category.

5000 rounds of match pellets and a new cylinder is less than a one case of Wolf 22 long rifle ammo. So after 10 years of use, I think you got the value out of the leaking cylinder. Air rifle is super inexpensive, and a new cylinder is part of that nominal cost. The key is to shoot the hell out of rifle to get the best cost of ownership!

A set of seals is a lot cheaper than $150 or so for a new cylinder and good for many more years.

If you feel badly, sell it in the Classified "as is".

I did check with Pilkington, their estimate to repair: "Normal charge is 25-45 depending on what type."
That sounds like the way to go, I'll have a new one and a spare.
