The Desert Midwinter began today with a Free Pistol match.
The weather was warm and dead calm. We had about twenty shooters on the line.
I think Zurek won, but Arnie Vitarbo was looking over his shoulder while discussing Italian recipes with me.
After lunch (the Boy Scouts were selling hot meat) we went into the Standard Pistol match while rain clouds and breezes came up.
Tomorrow Center Fire, Rapid Fire, and Air.
Balmy breezes

Another good day at the range with the Centerfire match.
Tony Silva won Standard Pistol. They hadn't posted the Centerfire scores when I left.
I saw teams from the Marines, Army, and Air Force waiting to shoot the hardball match followed by a Q&A by Steve Reiter after lunch. Steve does not lack opinions on the subject.
Tomorrow the 2700 begins, although one can still shoot Rapid Fire and Air. Everyone wants to win those .45s! There are also a large batch of target pistols of all flavors to fondle and take home to Mama.
More Italian recipes with Arnie Vitarbo. (He still makes his fine grips BTW.)

Rainy and blowing all weekend. That's the punishment they receive for being Bullseye shooters (see results on Bullseye).
Final results for International:
Centerfire:
Steve Locatelli 563
Air:
John Zurek 565
Standard:
Tony Silva 553
Free:
John Zurek 540
The weather turned crappy for the Bullseye shooters (they're being punished), but Zurek won again (2658- 110X). Great matches, great turnout. The big boys came out to play.
Next year, be there!!!
