Hammerli 160 Sear Adjustment?

Post by Gwhite »

One of the students I'm helping coach has a 160 that fired while he was setting the trigger. I'm going to check the trigger weight, but I'm assuming the sear adjustment may also need tweaking. I will be going in to the range tomorrow to see if I can fix it, and I don't have the pistol where I can study it at the moment.

I've examined the diagram & instructions on-line, but the drawings aren't very clear.

Screw #49 (which controls sear engagement) appears to be above screw #43 (which adjusts trigger weight). There is an access hole for screw #43 up through the trigger guard. I can't see from the drawing how you get at screw #49. Hopefully it will be obvious once I get the pistol in front of me, but I'd like to approach the problem with as much advance info as possible.

Thanks!

Both adjustments are accessed through the same hole in the trigger guard. The smaller allen head wrench goes through the larger screw.

{In case your student doesn't have a manual.}
If you can't read it from this picture, I will email it to you in a larger size.

Thanks for the info! I was wondering if the screws might be concentric, and you have confirmed that suspicion.

I have copies of the manual. Walther has posted many of the old Hammerli manuals online, although some of them are rather poor scans:

The manual for the 160/162 also only has an exploded diagram of the 162 . I know the 160 shares a lot in common with the FP60, and the pictures in the FP60 manual are much clearer. Unfortunately, the trigger adjustment is a bit different.

I think I have what I need for now.
