Can someone give me an honest comparison between the MG1 and a Morini CM162EI for airpistol. Pros and cons (except for electric trigger difference)

i own an cm162e and tried the mg1e of a fellow shooter. also i own a mg2. the mg1e biggest advantage over 162 is its grip. it can be adjusted for rake or left-right as the electronics are not housed in the grip. mg1e feels a bit more nose heavy. both have very good sights but on 162 you can buy an extra extension to bring them over your wrist. pellet loading is about the same. both good build quality

I suspect I'm the shooter you're speaking about as I've shot an MG1e at the last 2 CAGPs.

I used to shoot a Morini C162e and before that a Hammerli 480k and FWB 65.

Let me start of by saying I sold my Morini after owning the MG1e for several months. I find the trigger and rear sights to be superior to the Morini and any air pistol I’ve shot. The build quality is superb, and on par with most manufactures.

The balance of the pistol is quite forward in part because of the electronics are forward of the trigger guard.

I have yet to produce the same scores and results as I did with the Morini, but that is simply because I do not shoot a lot anymore. However, I still manage to produce my average number of 10s with the MG1e as I used to shoot with the Morini when trainning. This has led me to believe that the MG1e is a forgiving pistol – sort of like how people describe the Toz 35.

I don’t know many people who have the MG1e in Canada but I know there are two right now. The second one was purchased after they tried mine. Most people after trying the trigger simply smile and have this impressed look on their face. Styer and Morini dominate the Canadian market, but the MG1e should be considered. The mechanical trigger is very good as well – there are several mechanical MG1s in Canada.

I believe Morini designed the MG1 after the Morini.
So whatever he learned by making the 162, you'll find in the MG1.
The guy who sold me my MG1E had both the MG1s. He sold the MG1E because it's heavier than the mechanical MG1. Only thing missing in the MG1: it doesn't have a recoil absorber system. I'll never be good enough to miss it, the gun shoots tens if I do my part. And I don't feel I'm at a disadvantage among people shooting Morini, FWB, Steyr or Walther. Great gun, and the trigger system is "perfect". It sometimes doublebounces on dryfire, but that doesn't matter when shooting.

What case does the MG1E come in? Is it the same unhandy big case as the MG5 or the "normal size" ABS case that the MG2 comes in? There is a discount on the MG1E in Europe at the moment (€999), so I am thinking of buying one:-)

i think it comes in the normal case most factories use. (like the mg2). where in europe the mg1e is sold 999euros?

Hmm, found these pictures and it seems it is aan awfull big case. It almost makes me not want to buy it:-) Maybe it is bacause of those silly stabilasers

well i would not consider the case size a negative point. you can always get another smaller case .. they have about 20 euros. i wonder if instead of trying to find a grip for my 162e i should switch to mg1e since i have already an mg2 with custom grip that fits

Yes I know that I could buy a new case for a low price, but it would not be the original MG case, cut to fit the pistol. I know it is not a big deal as long as the pistol is good and I was only kidding about it making me buy another brand, but it still annoys me a bit:-)

Yes you can use the MG2 grip on the MG1, but not the other way around. The piece of the grip that is over your hand and under the rear sight, is too long on the MG1 grip to be used on the MG2. The grip will fit, but it will not be leagal according to ISSF rules. Likewise you should also be aware that if you use the MG2 grip on the MG1, you will lack the grip support in the place I have just mentioned. But that might not be a big deal.

well our local dealer has it for about 1200 euros. its a bit more since they dropped the price in germany but i can also order it with a custom grip. you can email matchguns and ask them for a smaller case .. i only seen 2 mg1e here in greece with the big case.

By that do you mean that you have seen some in the small original Match Guns case?

i have seen mg1 mechanical and mg1e on small case . i have also seen mg1e on big case.

Just recieved my MG1 last night, it has a large case similar but slightly smaller to the one above.
