10m Pistol shooting wanting to play around w/ 10m Air rifle

Post by vHoff »

Hi all,

I'm a college student and usually compete in 10m air pistol, but since our collegiate range can also accomodate 10m air rifle, I was thinking about dabbling in it, both for cross-training purposes as well as just for fun.

I was wondering what would be an economical (i have tuition to pay...) but relatively accurate beginner air rifle.

From my knowledge of gun makes from 10m AP, I know that FWB makes some good ones (300, 600) but those usually go for around ~$500-$600. I may consider paying that much in the future if the activity really interests me, but at this point I still see myself concentrating more in 10m AP.

Does anyone more experience have any better ideas?

Thanks!

so im assuming your looking for something in the $300 range.......

umm that might be tough......

the only thing i can think of in that range would be something like the Daisy avanti line....you can get an avanti 888 medalist for about $300......

the CMP has a few M853 and M888 for ~$250

you may however have better luck finding something used that is more suitable

If your range has bulk CO2, another option is a used TAU-200.
You could also use standard 12g CO2 cartridges, but that could get expensive if you shoot a lot. If you buy the cartridges in bulk that would make the shooting price more reasonable.
