My BKL rings failed on my prone rifle - suggestions?

Post by Leo »

I had recently purchased a set of BKL offset rings (Al) and the layout was PERFECT for my 1907... tonight when I was switching from irons to scope the rear ring "stripped" -- rats. I had be experimenting with different scopes and swapping iron/scopes every session - perhaps 30 duty cycles so I was supprised it failed... any other experiences?

Looking to drive to OH tomorrow - fall colors and a day off to visit Champion Shooters and if I can't get a replacement I thing I'll purchase the Anchutz base and 11mm rings... I know this has been covered before -- but any other thoughts?

I like Sportsmatch rings. Airguns of Arizona carries them. The same product is also labeled Beeman rings. http://www.sportsmatch-uk.com/
Leupold makes a 11mm set now, I have them, but never mounted them. IIRC they are steel. You may also want to get a quick disconnect set that features fixed bases.

I use rings from Kelbys...they are used in benchrest competition. Yes, they are more expensive, but I'm willing to pay for quality and have rings that last for a lifetime.
