Bacause of the back slope of the 280 rear blade, with the sight down for centre aim it is over length if measured from the rear face of the fore sight to the top rear edge of the rear sight.
I have altered many of the Australian 280's when they first came out to make them legal.
It requires a sharp pointed knife or pointed scraper.
Remove the fore sight screw and fore sight.
You need to remove a small amount of the carbon frame at the back edge of the foresight slot to allow the sight to be moved rearward about .008".
Then remove a similar amout from the screw hole rear side .
The barrel ring that the screw goes into now needs to be set back into the frame a similar amount using a light tap with a soft faced hammer. Take care not to knock it back too far.
Now refit the sight and screw.
