Number on Smith 41 Barrels

Post by fourarmed »

I have read and heard several times that the number on M41 barrels is the group size that it shot at the factory. Truth or urban legend? Doesn't make sense to me. What would be the point?

Gort is correct, even though you won't find it disproved on www.snopes.com
I discussed this with the S&W historian last year while trying to find out the year my #41 was made. It's an urban legend and a good one at that.
Oh, she was born in 1957, my 41 that is.
