HOW DO YOU SET UP AN AIR RIFLE WITH SCOPE

Post by darticus »

Is it best to use a rest a vise or something else to zero in a rifle to bull? Does using a scope make it harder to set up? Ron

There is no benefit to using a vise.
Use your normal shooting position.
Will you be shooting Running Target with the scope?
Even this event is no longer in the Olympics, and you are
in the olympic rifle topic.

Bench and bags.
You don't use a vise for irons ( I don't anyway), why would you use one for a scope.
Final adjustments in whatever position you shoot.

My PCP gun goes back and forth between irons and a scope, with irons in the winter for 10 meter and scope for silhouette in the summer. The scope is set up so that is is eactly the same height above the bore as the iron sights, so my shooting position is the same with each. A front rest and a rear bag is used to sight in before every match, with some minor adjustments for holding offhand. Right now it is two minutes lower than it ws in June when we first started shooting outdoors. When the weather cools off if will probably go back to the Spring settings.
