SETTING SIGHTS ON AN LP 1 OR LP 10
Is the best way to set sights by use a vise? Thinking the pistol should be vise set or is there a better way to set sights? What do you guys do? I'm sure if your not set properly you hit 10's only with luck. Thanks Ron

In my experience, you will get different results relative to the sights from the pistol in your hand versus a vise. The "center of gravity" of a string is where the sights are presently set. Your present level of ability (combined with the mechanical accuracy of the gun/ammo) will define the group size around that "center of gravity."
As another piece of advice to shooters getting too tied up in setting the sights: if you can't tell whether they are set properly or not just by shooting a string, they are set properly enough not to make much difference. You will very quickly get to the point where you can and will know to adjust the sights and that is an early milestone in your shooting progress that is worth taking note of.

Your basic body position has to be correct and repeatable/dependable and you have to have confidence in your position and trigger control before considering making any sight adjustments.
Once you have that confidence and you have carried out your zero poiint of aim checks for each shot, then adjusting the sights could be the next thing that is on the list, provided that you are getting a consistant group, irrespective its the size.
We all would like to think that we are capable of shooting perfect centre tens, but in reality, it does not always happen. Get the consistant group first by shooting lots of shots, then adjust the sights.
