I find my self shooting 60 shots about every other night.
I've gone from about 460 to 515 avg. in a couple weeks and about 1000 rnds. my IZH pistol is getting a workout.

thanks for the encouragement.

and thanks to pilkguns for all the good reading about technique.

Sounds like you only got an Izzy.

Get yourself a top PCP and have more fun.

You'll jump to 550 or higher guaranteed....

The top PCP's won't be shooting 10's everytime for you, but
it WILL increase your scores against a SSP.

It also depends on you doing your 'follow through' during the shot process.
That my friend in combination, is GUARANTEED to give you 550 or higher...

I know alot of guys who will never shot a 550, Most shooters will never shot a 550. I will almost bet that most owners of a PCP will never shot 550. I come to that conclucion by looking at the scores shot at most events. YES all really good shooters(I think)(all I have ever seen in person) shoot PCP . But the numbers dont give the average shooter the odds of topping 550. I may be wrong so im going to shut up and take alook...... NB

OK . at nationals with the best shooters shooting only 28 out of 52 shoot a 550. At the spring championships only 16 of the 36 shot a 550 ( in one match) ok I didnt check All the matches im not getting paid for this. If they could shoot 550 just by changing guns and follow thru "Dont you think they would" I would say "Most shooters r just competeing against themselves ,trying to shoot above ones ability. They r limited by their natural ability and most will never shoot above 550" I am counting all shooters not just the ones at nationals, at nationals most will shoot above 550 but not by much. This research took me less than 5 minutes and is open for debate...... NB

yes it's a 46m. yes i woud like something more cool.

Post by dsergison »

no, I dont see improving a whole lot more because of it.

the 46m shoots same hole with diablo basic. (held in my mill vice) or with anything I feed it. Any missing the bull is my fault.

I'm not consistent with technique. I am pretty decent at holding a sight picture in the black all the time. I wave around far less now. I'm better at firing on "good" sight pictures. Better at holding onto them for a bit after firing. I can call some shots. I can usually keep 59 in the black. 1 usually gets away.

still there is somehting cool about sending pellets downrange for free.

I want a FWB 601 rifle.
I can't swing the one for sale right now.... but they seem to come up occasionally.

unless someone wants 800 worth of machine work out of me. or to trade.
whatever it might be.

Grasping the fundamentals will give you more points than grasping a few more hundreds of dollars worth of gun :)

AP is fun

By all means, learn what the fundamentals are and build your technique around what works for you. A smooth steady pressure on the trigger is the foundation . develope a consistantly steady hold and make sure you are concentrating on sight allignment when the pistol fires.,with just a bit of follow through, Every thing you do should be based on positive concepts and the 46 will sufice for at least the time it takes you to imploy the fundamentals on each and every shot. It will definately take you to master class. Good Shooting Bill Horton

Have you ever had a feeling of deja vu.

Yes, the IZH is capable of shooting high scores. It is however easier to shoot high scores with a top class PCP that suits you.

Even while learning the basics of shooting, finances permitting, I would always recommend using the very best equipment available.

If your goal is to overcome the difficulties presented by lower class equipment then fine. If your goal is to shoot the highest scores you can then get the best and easiest to shoot equipment you can.

I think that the subject of dsergison's topic was missed

Debates about equipment aside, if you're having fun, you will shoot well.

If you're shooting for fun, not necessarily you'll be shooting better, cause a point more or a point less will mean little or no difference.

It's when you have better equipment, having an objective in mind, that pushes YOU to achieve higher scores.

if shooting 10meter AP poorly were fun... that would be kinda weird.
I mean I could just go plink pop cans.

I just like SSP. I like not needing to get HPA fills. or even CO2. (and I already have a 80lb co2 fill tank.)

it just gives you something to DO. it's kinda Usefull... it's almost Therapeutic.

If making one stroke pump per shot is really holding me back...... I recon that wont be until I'm a lot better than I currently am.

Now your thinking, keep shooting and have fun. Worry about your score and gun when you start shooting 550 with the gun you have. Nb

"If making one stroke pump per shot is really holding me back...... "

Only if you think it does, which many seem to think.

Rover said it. "Only if one thinks it does". You dont seem to think that way . Your attitude about "therapeutic" is perfect ! Take a possble negitive and turn it into a positive. Good thinking....NB
