CF non pistol hand

Is it illegal to cock a revolver with the non shooting hand in ISSF center fire or NRA International CF matches? If so does someone have the rule #. TIA

It's my view that with ISSF Centre fire, almost everyone cocks the hammer with the non shooting hand. You wouldn't want to move your shooting hand out of position when competing, especially with the duellling series. I consider it a safer way of shooting too.

Rather than looking for a rule allowing it, it is a matter of it being acceptable unless there is a rule forbidding this action.

Its more than normal to use the non-shooting hand to cock a revolver during CF rapid stage.
Most ISSF style grips would make the alternative impossible.

I'm still waiting for an RO to gripe about having a cocked revolver resting on the bench - at which point I'll suggest the auto shooters decock their pistols between shots.

It does look scary, and I usually cock just before firing a precision shot but occasionally abort and rest the gun down.

I can't think of any ISSF rule that would prevent it provided that, in the rapid stage, you don't rest the gun on the bench whilst cocking the pistol for the second and subsequent shots in a series.

6.2.2.4 While the shooter is on the firing point, the gun must always be pointed in a safe direction. When not actually firing, all guns must be unloaded and the bolt or action must be open. The action, breech or loading device must not be closed until the gun is pointing down range in a safe direction toward the target / butt stop area.

Revolver, semi-auto or single shot, there is a difference between rested on (and complying with 6.2.2.4), and pointing at the bench.

Depending on the material used for the bench, it is not pleasant being in the next bay when a shooter 'lets one off' into the bench.

For EST, if the shot goes through the cables or power supply there would be an expensive invoice to pay.
