Steyr LPS Silhouette Pistol

The man in brown delivered it Tuesday. I quickly rummaged through the scope mount box and found what I needed. That BKL reach forward Weaver rail worked perfectly. I happened to have an Ultradot Matchdot to put on this bad boy. Within a few minutes I had it charged up and spitting JSB exacts down range at the shop. What great balance when held in the traditional Taco hold for silhouette.

A steel chicken is the size of the 8ring...how hard can that sport be?

In AP silhouette the chicken, located at 10 yd, is approximately 20x20mm, which makes it smaller then the 9 ring. You must knock down five chickens in 2.5 min. Pigs, Turkeys and Rams are larger and located at 12.5, 15 and 18 yd. The match is typically held outdoors. Give it a try; I think you will find it challenging.

I thought "prolly" was British, like "brolly" ;) Learn something everyday! The smaller our world is the better, I say. Back to shooting.......

Hi Guys, AP silhouette can be very easy and very difficult, mostly depends
on the shooter's attitude. I think it is a lot of fun. I have silhouette swingers
set to their official distances interspersed in my backyard 10 meter course.
So, when I start feeling my mental focus slipping, I start a less focused but
exact ritual of my 10 meter routine. I must admit, that the Ram target is
very easy to hit, as a matter of fact I very rarely miss the Ram at 18 yards,
this is with the 10 meter match routine, open sights, single handed normal
ISSF reg shooting. I also rarely miss the pig and the chicken target.
But, I do have an adverse curse with the Turkey target. Bottom line is
that if I put as much time into AP Silhouette as I put into 10 meter training I would
always score 38-40's. I think shooting at the silhouette targets two-handed
with an 18X scope is comical folly, with the farthest target being the Ram at 18 yards,
head to feet about 3" and the width approx 4"s How can I miss, even one handed.
Following that boasting, I admit, I have missed the Ram, and yes it's a fun
event, no matter how you shoot it.

I use my p34 to shoot silhouettes. I shoot iron sights too. My best one handed is 29/40. I don't train or anything for it. Just shoot and have fun. Shooting outdoors in the wind is very challenging. Shot a match one in 30mph gusts. Was aiming at target on left to hit target on right. Guessing pellet was being deflected about 6 inches at 18 yards. I find silhouettes a nice supplement to international air pistol. One thing that makes it hard at the range I shoot is the big bore targets all share same line so when you are shooting air pistol, it is very loud and the shooters with muzzle brakes on their 7br's,308's, etc.. definitely keep you on your toes when shooting an air pistol next to them!

Ted you would do great on my backyard course, very low wind and very
low noise, except for some occasional Sinaloa and Ranchero music from
two of my neighbors. The upside is that these neighbors shoot airguns
occasionaly also. I also shoot FT at Prado venue with the CASA club,
and there is a very active Pistol firearm range next to us with only an 8'
block wall separating us. It's good training I guess.
