Trigger stages

Post by roostonu »

When I purchased my K58 the trigger wouldn't lift 150g much less 500g. I tried to add tension to both stages with no affect. At the time I had no knowledge of competitive shooting so I shot it that way. Once I decided to try shooting a match, I learned that I would need to be able to adjust my trigger. Long story short, I took it apart, repaired the trigger and can now lift 525g.

The problem this created was, when I was shooting with the very lite trigger I could take up the first stage before engaging the sear and hold it there before squeezing off my shot. Now that I have considerably more tension on it, I find myself slowly releasing my finger so that when I finaly shoot I am no longer at the engagement point.

My way around this was to eliminate my first stage movement all together and it feels good to me. I seem to have less deflection when dry firing this way. Is this terribly wrong?
