Smaller diameter of scoring gages

I'd like to make a few .22 scoring gages. I have the larger diameters for the NRA and USAS gages, however I'm not sure of the smaller diameters that actually go into the paper. Can someone with with a gage and micrometers help me out? Thanks.

6.3.2.8.3 Small bore Rifle and Pistol 5.6 mm (.22”)

Measuring edge diameter: 5.60 mm (+0.05/ -0.00 mm)
Edge thickness: 0.50 mm approximately
Spindle diameter: 5.00 mm (+0.05 mm)
Spindle length: 10 mm to 15 mm

Anyone have a guess why ISSF and NRA have "very" different tolerences on their regular .22 scoring gauges? You will note that they do not even overlap at all. I also wonder how many people use NRA gauges in USAS matches and vice versa? Also, the same question about the magnifying overlay gauges (that are ISSF spec) that come out of Canada?

ISSF 5.60 - 5.65mm (0.22047 - 0.22244in)

NRA 5.6515 - 5.6898mm (0.2225 - 0.2240in)

Is the NRA target plug you are talking about the NRA/USA-50 target?
That is a 50 foot target

I'm looking at doing them for both the standard NRA (ie....A17, A36) and the USA 50. Yes, they are 50 foot targets.

The USA-50 target is quite different than the A-36 ... the plugs are different as well.

I got my USA-50 plugs from Neal J's .... Does anyone know if ESP (Bill Ernest) makes them?

I'm aware that there are two different gages with different rim diameters. However, the spindle diameter should be the same for both.

I searched for plugs for the USA-50 target about one month ago - There are no commercial outlets for them. I emailed the NRA Rifle Division about the problem (since A36 is no longer approved for tournament use in NRA competition) and received no reply. I was fortunate in finding someone who would part with his scoring gauge, which solved my problem but does not address the problems coming when the 2010 indoor sectionals begin in a few weeks.

There is a business opportunity here for someone willing to make scoring gauges. There is also a problem for NRA to address, and sooner rather than later.

I have today (12/10/09) confirmed that Bill Earnest (570-797-4872) IS making the outside gauge for the NRA/USA-50 target.
