Wanting 10m PCP-Need opinions on new Aeron101,Tau8, and used

Post by dragracr »

I'm going to be buying either a new 10m PCP pistol or a used one if one comes up. I am eyeing the Aeron 101 spider and the Tau8 mainly because these two are in the price range I am looking to spend on a new gun. I would also not mind buying used but I'm not sure what other 10m PCP's to look for. Can anyone give some opinions on the two new ones I listed or some other models to look for used or new? I would be starting off shooting airpistol silhouette at my local gun club and hopefully trying out some 10m shooting if I can find a place to. I'm not interested in Co2 guns...I have 2 4500psi scba tanks and like the ease of high pressure air.

I'd advise you a sechand Steyr/morini/FWB whatever. I own an Aeron Spider and I had to sent the pistol+1 cilinder back for quarantee repair..
Its horrible to get any accessoiries for it too, no contact with aeron..
Its a GREAT shooter though, I especially love the sights, and the trigger is imo as good as my morini's, VERY good!

Tau is in the same league as the aeron. I own several Tau 7's. And allthough I love them to bits and they're VERY good shooters, they're prono to leaking cause of mediocre internal finish (see aeron). Dunno the 8, they're not 4sale here, but I spoke 1 owner, who had to return 1 cilinder cause of leaks as well.

Nice external finish isnt the tsjech strongest point either but thats optical.
;)

I dont really mind the problems, I dont shoot matches and have several backup guns. So allthough I love mine, if you only have 1 pistol, or shoot matches seriously I'd suggest another brand which has better reliabilty and service. For instance, sechand Morini 162 or Steyr LP.
