New Shooter - New Airgun

I am expecting receipt within the next few days of a new IZH46M air pistol and am wondering what, if anything, I need to do before shooting. I have read comments in this forum about removing the grease from the seal chamber and relubing it with pellet gun oil, is this recommended or can I shoot the gun as is? Since this is my first air pistol, I'm somewhat leary about taking it apart. What brand of oil do you recommend? Where are the lubrication points? I would appreciate your comments.

The IZH-46M can be shot out of the box. Just check there are no obstructions in the barrel!

I have one suggestion. When you store this air pistol, you should release the cover lever (the one that pops up when cocking) from the closed position AND open the pumping lever about 20 degrees to release pressure on the spring. I was informed about this storage state from someone who learnt the hard way and who had to repair the IZH46M within a year of owning it because he stored it with the pumping lever fully closed.

I have stored my one this way for 3 years (with fairly constant use) without any maintenance so far.

Apart from the good advice about storage, your next challenge is shaping th egrip to fit your hand: it's too big for most people. A Dremel grinding tool with a small sanding drum is the easy solution. This is actually a bit of a challenge, and the main issue is not removing too much wood......
