izh 46m dry fire trigger problem

Post by mchosp »

My Izh 46m is having dry fire trigger problem.

When I squeeze trigger in past, dry fire valve opens right away.

Now when I squeeze trigger at end, the final click-pop sound is delayed by about one second, sometimes it does not even pop at all.

I have no problem shooting pellet at all. Only dry fire somehow is delayed by a good second.

What is going on?

Dry Firing an IZH46M

Post by Popeye »

If I'm not mistaken, the IZH-46M is not designed for dry fire practice. I suggest you use pellets that are cheap anyway.

I tried doing the same when I first got one 3 years ago, and I blew a rubber ring through the barrel-needless to say it failed to make a hole in the target. haha

So-don't dry fire it. Another tip - store the Izzy with the lever slightly open (1/3rd open) to prevent any undue stress on the spring etc.

Happy shooting

The IZH-46M can be dry fired, but you do it by manually cocking the breech cover only (see link below). If you've been doing this, I don't understand your description above. Have you been dry firing by simply cocking the lever as you would for live fire, then just not loading a pellet before shooting? This isn't the correct way to dry fire your 46M, and can damage it, as Popeye discovered.
