Front Sight

Post by 4Hshooter »

I am trying to find a front sight replacement for the CM2. Currently, the front sight will not move from left to right and had no luck with repairs. Any suggestions?

Front or Rear Sight???
Front is not usually adjustable.

If it is indeed the front sight you are asking about, it is best to remove it and replace it with one that will take 18mm apertures.

Here are the instructions I received fro Mac Tilton on removing the front sight:
It is a simple operation to remove the front sight. Please observe the large hole in the top of the front sight. This hole allows access to the set screw screw that holds the sight on. Insert a blade type screw drive in the hole and remove the set screw. Take a piece of 2X4 and place it behind the sight and hit it with a hammer. The sight will slide off with some effort. Also you can use an aluminum bar as a punch to remove the sight, Any problems give me a call at 805 720 7720.
Note that I also had to heat the front sight a bit as Izhmash uses an epoxy to hold it on too .... it really did not have to get too hot to bump the sight off. I used a propane torch & about 15 sec of heat on the sight.

I ordered a sight extension tube from Scott Medesha (do a google search) and installed that .... BTW the CM-2 barrel diameter is 0.748" to tell to Scott as he will machine the adapter when you order it. You can select different lengths of sight extensions. I then use a Daisy air rifle front sight.
Cost ... about $100 Note here: If you want it fast ask Scott what colors he has in stock and ready to go, otherwise you may have a 6-8 week wait as he sends parts out for anodizing in batches

Here is a pic of one of our rifles (A CM-2 Cadet w/ a 10" tube)

I've also ordered Daisy 888 rails that I am going to fit to the rifles we have so that we can use standard handstops, bipods, etc
