Any 10 meter pistol venues near Rochester, NY?

Post by sciguy191 »

This afternoon I received a used but new to me ISH 46M. Its an early retirement present to myself. If I show any talent with it what so ever I'd like to shoot it in the company of other more experienced pistol shooters.

Are there any venues in Rochester or this side of Rochester that you know of or shoot at?

Thanks for any informed replies.

Best Regards,

Hugh

Hello Hugh,
We run PTO's at the Rochester Rifle Club.
You can shoot them there anytime since, we are setup for 10 Meters.
Also at RRC, Air Guns are shot by the Jr's on Tuesday night.
If there are opening (which there almost always is) adults can shoot too.
The PTO's are open to all but, otherwise you must be a member.
Please contact me during the day if you need more info or help (293-2380).
Their are several of us that shoot other air events around the state.

Good Luck,
Dennis

Dennis,

Much thanks for the information. Would you suggest stopping up on a Tuesday evening in order to observe some good technique or is there another dependable time when one might be sure to see some pistol shooting?

A PTO is a Preliminary Tryout.
Which is the lowest level of register matches in the USA Shooting structure.

Their is never a guarantee that anyone will be shooting AP.
But, its worth the try.
If you like we can always arrange a time in my shop to do some instruction.
I have 2 air ranges here and would be glad to help get you started in the right direction.
Call me during business hours if you can or PM or email me.
Thanks
Dennis

Shooting IZH 46 at Rochester Gun Club

Post by sciguy191 »

Bob,

Thanks for letting me know about being there on Tuesday. What time do you guys show up? I would love to stop up and just pick your brains about setting up the pistol, stance, lubing..............I have yet to shoot a single pellet through the IZH but have dry fired it a number of times by use of the trigger cocking mechanism.

The fellow I puchased it from sent a note along mentioning how everyone who had ever shoot the pistol had at least one accidental missfire. My perception of the trigger pull is that it is way less than 500 grams but I am not sure if the non-charged pull is similar to the charged pull. It seems like it would pretty easy to make a jury rigged device to test the pull fairly accurately.

Hope to be able to drive up and meet you and the other IZH shooter this Tuesday.

Best Regards,
