Walther GSP 22 &32

Post by lame dragon »

Can anyone tell me whether you can use the same frame for both barrels on a Walther GSP22 and 32? (similar to the Hammerli 280 with interchangeable barrles)

Thanks

GSP 22/32

Yes, and it's even easier to do than the Hammerli.

Just so long as you don't try to put a .32 conversion on a very old .22 pistol. The mag well area of the frame is too small for the .32 mag to fit through. It's easy to check. As long as the .32 mag fits in the frame, your OK.

GSp 22 and 32 Walther

I was trying to make it easy to get an answser but I guess not.

The frame on my GSP 32 needs replacing so I acquired a frame only.

However my 32 barrel seems to be slightly larger than the frame (about 1cm. on one edge) so the barrel does not fit flush on to the frame making it difficult to slide it back about 1/2 inch and lock. However the 22 barrel fits perfectly on the new frame.

I also tried the GSP 32 barrel on the GSP 22 gun, but it has the same problem. The frame appears to be slightly smaller.

Is this standard for the Walther GSP products? I'm only asking because both answers received seem to imply that the barrels are interchangeable on the same frame?

We are talking about a whole .32 top unit, right, your not trying to just put a 32 barrel in a .22 top unit?

Unless the frame is really old the .32 and .22 are interchangable.

Yes. it's the entire .32 barrel and slide assembly that comes off when you rotate the release lever on the left side of the frame.

The 32 mag fits the new frame perfectly.

Thanks for all the responses

Cross assembly of top units

Have you tried this with the trigger unit removed from the frame?
I found I had to thin the 'ears' on one of my single-stage trigger units in order to get the top unit to slide fully back onto the frame.

Try with the grips removed or just loosen the grips a liitle bit to install the conversion kit.
