Benelli kite v. Aeron cz101 Spyder

Post by ericf »

For someone just entering the sport, Is the "Kite" worth the extra $250 over the Aeron Cz 101 Spyder?
I've found some information on the Benelli, (all positives for the most part).
But info on the "syder" is nonexistent.
I can't find a dealer that sells both for a possible unbiased opinion.

Aeron $965 Benelli $1225

Can some here shed some light on this for me before I make a grand (nopun) mistake.

Help.

Thanks

Personally I wouldn't pay that for either, you'd be better served getting a used LP 1 for that price. $1225 is way too much for a Kite. A new Morini is only $1375 or an LP2 for $1350 are far better pistols than the Kite (which is way better than the Areon).

I do not know the prices of AP in US, but if you can buy a Morini or Steyr for 10% more than the Kite, it would be foolish to buy the kite: because they are much better pistols to shoot with but also just a question of quality of investment = used Morini or Steyr can be sold at a much higher price and much easier than a Kite.

The LP-2 price is off our host's web site and as for the price of LP1's I've tracked down two for friends of mine and they both paid under $1000.

Hi Ericf,
A friend bought a Spyder, It was delivered with a leak in the frame, and he returned it. It shot ok, but the build quality didn't seem quite as good as some of the fancier guns. He ended up with a Tau 7 instead, which seems a bit better built. The Aeron did have a lot of features though.

I've seen the Kite up close, and it looks a lot better. I know someone who has one and he seems to like it a lot.

From a performance standpoint I don't think it really matters which air pistol you buy, they're all pretty equivalent in performance. If you're going to shoot a lot of matches I'd worry more about reliability, and go with something you can get parts and service for at a reputable dealer. Larry can service the kite, if you're in the US I don't know where you would send the Spyder.

I'd buy the kite (but just for the service, and because the finish is a lot nicer). I'm sure I'd shoot them both the same.

Steve.
