IMHO Reliability would be my number one choice when just starting. Mastering sight alignment and trigger control. Having to fine tune a pistol when learning, and not knowing what you are doing, is a recipe for disaster. Once the basics are learnt, upgrade then.

As a RO, I would never accept an empty case holding the slide open.
Has the shooter just had a malfunction and, not thinking, just put the pistol on the bench? Just use some other object to prop the slide open. Is it that hard to do?

I have an IJ-34 R/F gathering cobwebs. Barrel too long to sell in Buy-back.
New uses would be great. [ I know I can go fishing and use it as a sinker ]

Common sense used in a govt dept, amazing.
I did note that it refers to 'International' mail. I suppose that doesn't include internal Australian mail, so there could still be the problem of getting parts from a dealer in Australia.

David "If the centre is within .19" of a higher scoring ring then you get the higher score" This is the point I was trying to get across, but I didn't explain it properly. The .19" is the radius of the 38, but the radius of the 32 is .16". Why is it that the 32 gauge has a ....

Axel "It is the centre of the hole that counts, does not matter what caliber it is, .32 or .38. " Could you expand on this please? As I see it, the gauge will center the shots holes, but it is the outside of the gauge [.38 ] that needs to touch the higher scoring ring to get the higher val...

Do they have an air pistol event?

Spencer,
Do they promote this here in Australia?

I was lucky enough to snare one too. Great pistol for the price. 100% reliability so far. When I got mine, another member in our club rang to get one for himself, and they were all gone.
PS the extra was the safety pinned and the sears honed

I think that it is the IOC that has the say in which events are included in the Olympics, and not ISSF

For ISSF C/F, the .32 has an added 'plus' in scoring, as the gauge for .32 has the outer ring at .38. Handy if the shot is close to the higher scoring ring. Shots close, but not touching the scoring ring, must be gauged to verify the value of that shot. A point here and there can make a difference i...

I can't think of an Olympic sport that men and woman compete equally against each other for the same medal. I can be corrected on that. To try and set a precident and combine the genders in a minor Olympic sport, that is not media friendly [ in the eyes of the public ], is just not going to achieve ...

Are the shroud screws on the OZ version of the IZH 35M?
As we don't use them with Dot scopes in OZ, as the USA seems to do a lot, and we just use iron sights, there shoudn't be a problem if the shroud is not screwed down.

With unlimited sighters, I can't see it being a problem that you cannot dry-fire in the preparation time. Do it with or without a pellet [ to save money? ] in the sighting series
Unless I am missing something in your post

Key points that I see are quotes from posts "I use a sub 6 o'clock hold but haven't got the faintest idea what ring is the centre of my holding area. I just hold in an area that is comfortable for me. " "Not having a 'specific' to aim at will help you keep the front sight in focus - h...

Can I use compressed air in a co2 pistol

If I buy a used co2 air pistol, can I use compressed air instead of co2.
Is it detrimental to the operation and accuarcy of the pistol.
