Re: Converting "boys rifle" to practice smallbore
Remington made a whole line of rifles from this same action. The 510 was about the bottom and the 513 was sort of a smallbore trainer. There was also a 521t that was sort of a jr target version of the same rifle. I have a 510 that started off as an ugly little duck and i “ souped it up” in what i th...

Re: 3-d printed scoring plugs?
3d printing by itself isn’t precise enough for this application. The diameters on a scoring plug should be within.001” or so and the edges need to be tight corners.

Those don't look like the original rings. What rings are they? Fit unertl style dovetail?

Re: Need some help on a FWB Model 2 (with four pictures)
Maybe I’m misunderstanding but do i understand that you’re filling a co2 cylinder with compressed air at much higher pressures than the cylinder is rated for? If so maybe doing such things will someday qualify you for the Darwin Award. A very bad idea. CO2 has its quirks but works pretty well if kep...

Re: What would happen to air rifle without special clothes?
There’s always frisbee golf. I remember Gramps always complaining about the invention of the self-contained cartridge. Yeah I forgot to mention the argument of gramps complaining about the newfangled widgets. Also very effective at shutting down discussion. Not that it matters at all because pandor...

Re: What would happen to air rifle without special clothes?
These types of threads come and go. Inevitably the appeal is made to safety and of course we must have that! I’ve found that when a person appeals to safety most of the rest of the world shuts their brain off and shuts their mouth. And, I’m not a pistol shooter. I’ve dabbled in international rifle s...

Re: Rifle the limiting factor?
Something Tim S said that i think should be amplified is the use of a trainer. When i was shooting prone my shooting was a little erratic. At the time i had a noptel trainer. I spent some time with it in prone and it was very informative. It turned out the trainer told me that my point of aim was mo...

Re: Question about 1600 Anschutz
The 3200 scopes came with scope rings that mated correctly with the unertl type barrel mounted scope blocks. Your 3200 has had the rings replaced. The original rings were unique and are very difficult to find. There is a guy I found online that makes replacements. Not cheap though. I think you can f...

Actually the NRA wrecking of smallbore started when they went back to the old target from the 50m international target under HQ Moody. Then changed prone course of fire.

Re: Kowa TSN-1 a good spotting scope for smallbore outdoor prone?
We have a couple of tsn-1 kowa scopes. I wouldn’t trade one for any celestron. The kowas are very clear. The long eye relief eye pieces that kowa makes are very nice and I think somewhat unique. Also, the kowa scopes are very high quality mechanically.

Re: Ballistic curtain for .22 lr?
Not exactly a curtain but Some of the collegiate teams are using a temporary wall made of plywood laminated with sheet metal. This is for use as a portable range. The sheet metal is minimal thickness to do the stopping. The plywood keeps it from splattering.

Re: Soda Stream cylinders
I’m not sure what a soda stream bottle is. Never heard a co2 bottle called that. I have both a 20lb cylinder, used mostly with my mig welder and a 5lb bottle. Both of these I have used to fill my air pistols with. My current bottles don’t have syphon tubes so need to be turned upside down. The 20lb ...

Re: FWB 601 question
I can relate. I have an Anschutz 2002 Superair which is a SSP rifle too. I did pretty much what you're doing. It works fine but I'm told that sometimes the valve assembly goes bad. Not sure what goes bad in there but it was replaced as a unit I understand. They are no longer available so I guess whe...
