Re: 10m target lighting

Attached is my paper target system using a simple clamp-on lamp. I use the lamp along with my normal room lighting. For the lamp, I tried a bunch of different bulbs years ago and found the GE Reveal 50W incandescent spotlight bulb gave me the best sight picture. The Reveal bulbs had a slight purplis...

Re: Cheating at New Delhi

The requirements and restrictions of the prone position are listed in ISSF Rulebook Section 7.6.1.2. No where does it state "the rifle must be supported only by the front shoulder and the forward hand with the sling when in the prone position." The closest is part "d" that states...

Re: Any reason Tanner rifles are not more popular?

Andre Tanner died a few years ago, but the company still exists with a new owner, Rolf Denzler. Tanner Sportwaffen is still located in the same building Andre used in Fuhlenbach, Switzerland, and I believe still has the same couple master gunsmiths. The website is www.tanner-sportwaffen.com It's all...

Re: Would a 2002 stock fit with a 9015 barrel?

I am not sure if a 9015 barrel fits with a 2002 stock, but if you only need to replace your barrel, it looks like Anschutz North America has three 2002 replacement barrels available for $250 each. This is just the barrel, not the cocking mechanism, trigger, etc. You could also contact them to answer...

Re: Low Sight Riser Options

I got a set a few years ago from Neal Stepp in Ft. Worth (ISS-International Shooters Service). His website is not the greatest, but he has a pretty large inventory of target shooting equipment. It’s best to give him a call, and he can probably get you the risers if he doesn’t have any in stock. http...

Re: Low Sight Riser Options

The risers that screw in from the top are more for permanent mounting. They can be taken on and off, but they are a pain. And they ding or mar whatever they are screwed onto. There is a 4 mm riser set Anschutz makes that basically squeezes onto the rail by your sights. It’s AHG Item Number 6923. The...

Re: Anschutz new Precise rear sight

Just a little clarification to add to this thread. I sort of miswrote that I do not stay in position when I load for prone. What I meant was that I do not keep my right elbow on the mat when I load. I do keep the rifle in my shoulder while loading. So reaching the elevation knob when it's on top of ...

Re: Anschutz new Precise rear sight

I got one of these sights last year while at the Munich World Cup. I was looking for a low profile sight for air rifle. And this works great for me. It has one potential big issue, which I will discuss later. But it is very well made and pretty ingenious engineering. It's small. The base measures 45...

Re: info on anschutz biathlon

I did some more checking on the Anschutz web site, and I did find a spare parts list with explosion diagram for the 1827. There also was a parts list and diagram for a 1427. http://jga.anschuetz-sport.com/index.php5?menu=363&sprache=1 Based on the bolts in the diagrams, the rifle you have pictur...

Re: info on anschutz biathlon

I used to compete in biathlon in the early 1980's and this is the rifle model I used. it is an Anschutz 1827 and was top of the line in its day. This model was replaced with the 1827 with a Fortner action (straight pull) after I stopped competing, but the 1827 I had was very accurate. I used it not ...

Re: Air cylinder

I just responded to your posting in the buy, sell, trade section on this subject. I have a steel cylinder from my Anschutz 2002 that I can sell to you. It's expired (I purchased it when I purchased the rifle in 2002), but it seems fine. It was my back up, so I didn't use it much, but I tried it for ...

I somewhat disagree with the last entry regarding the benefits of a polarizer. I used a polarizer almost always, usually also with a yellow filter, while on the national team for 10 years, shooting many world cups and on one Olympic team. I agree that many at that level do think polarizers aren't go...

The previous post mentions getting a lens +0.75 diopters stronger than your distance vision lens. That might be for pistol shooting. Based on my experience, for rifle shooting, just go with your normal prescription, if you're near sighted (which I am). I'm not sure what you do if you are far sighted...

I was on the junior national biathlon team back in the mid 1980s, but also shot NRA position and prone competitions. I used an Anschutz 1827 biathlon rifle for everything (winter biathlon, summer biathlon, and NRA type smallbore competitions). Granted that was over 25 years ago, but that rifle worke...

I too am near sighted and have spent quite a bit of time on the subject of shooting glasses. First of all, the safety factor of wearing glasses is not what I'm discussing. I'm strictly discussing vision. Safety is a whole different subject, and I will not go into that. I've seen several top shooters...
