Re: Beretta 76 Opinions?

Once again, I really appreciate the comments. I agree, if I can find a better pistol, I'll grab it, but the reason I ask is that Beretta 76es are all over the place, and very inexpensive. That said, I don't want to get plinker-grade gun. If I found a DES-69 or FAS 602 (or IZH-35M, etc), I'll definit...

Re: Beretta 76 Opinions?

Thanks, samg, for the input. I specifically appreciate the tip about frame/slide play. Greg, normally I would agree, but I’m currently outside the US, in a place where Beretta 76s are $300, but Rugers are $500. Plus Beretta parts are much more available. Back home, I have several Buckmarks and highe...

Beretta 76 Opinions?

I'm looking for a club level standard pistol, and I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the older Beretta pistols, specifically the model 76. I'm wondering how it compares to other entry level pistols like the Browning Buckmark or Ruger Mark II/III/IV.

Re: Grip for Colt 1911

When you write centerfire 30x30, do you mean 30 shots slow fire and 30 shots timed fire, or is it 30 shots rapid fire?

That's good to hear. Do you have a phone number? I always just looked online for it.

Is Quality Cast Bullets out of business?

I've been shooting up the last of my Quality Cast bullets. Overall, I'm pleased with their product. I just tried going to their website to place an order, and the site is down. Are they out of business? If so, can anyone recommend a replacement? I'm currently looking at Dardas and Penn bullets, but ...

Murph; In my limited testing, I found my GT45 was most accurate with 4.4 gr of Bullseye under an H&N 185 gr plated HP. My next round of testing will be with Zero 185 gr JHPs in the same loading range, as well as with 4.2 gr of Titegroup and a magnum primer, and with 4.4 gr of Titegroup. All of t...

sobakavitch;

I'm intrigued about you're use of the Burris Fastfire 3 on a Pardini Docter mount. Which Fastfire mounting option did you purchase? How easy was it to install? How does the Fastfire handle elevation adjustments between the long and short lines?

Can you post a picture?

Thanks,

I have no experience with the Steyr LP50, but I own a FWB C55. The FWB trigger is excellent, and easily adjustable from one stage to two. Have you considered the FWB P58?

Alex; There are several pistol clubs in Sacramento. The one that I know of that does International and Bullseye competition is the United Revolver Club of Sacramento: http://www.urcsac.com/ You'll find your standard events here. I have no doubt that if you email them in advance of your visit, you'll...

I have an older GSP-C upper with the old style sight blades. I can check with the current style, which I have on my GSP expert. I'm pretty sure they'll fit, the studs look the same. The newer style sight blades are much easier to put on and remove. I don't know about Canada, but in the US Earl's or ...

I need to apologize to Conradin, and everyone else, because I did make it sound like he has Aspergers, when in fact I've never met the man, nor am I a doctor. I had intended to make the post more as a "let's suppose the guy is just different than us" rather than jump all over him for being...

I think we need to give Conradin a break here. I've worked with some folks with Aspergers (and I'm saying Conradin has Asperger's syndrome, but he sure sounds like he's on the spectrum), and his questions make total sense to me viewed from that perspective. He may have extremely good mechanical skil...

My local gun shop has a NIB Advantage Arms 1911 Target .22 conversion for sale for $360. Is it worth it, or should I step up to the Nelson for $435 ($415 plus shipping)?

Thanks,

Pistolchamp;

I'd love to get a .32 ACP conversion kit. Alas, I only have a Walther GSP, for which there is no .32 ACP option. Otherwise, I'd be all over it.

In the meantime, I'm very curious about the technical reasons behind the Pardini's .32 ACP success.

Thanks,

Dave/FC60;

Which H&N bullet were you using with such success? The safety issue you mention with a .32 ACP conversion is definitely real. I guess chambering a barrel in .32 S&W would pose the same issue?

Thanks,

I had the same thought about the possible use of a .32 S&W with a RN bullet. Do these pistols headspace off the rim, or the case mouth? My thought is the rim, but I've read that older .38 super guns headspaced off the rim, with poor accuracy, until the 1980s when custom gunsmiths changed them to...

So is the issue solely the faster twist? Or is there another advantage to the conventional cartridge versus the wadcutter?
