Re: Toz 35 Modifications
And a little pic for Azmodan, showing my hand holding the grip, while in position of aiming . I have no difficulty at all to reach the trigger, and my aiming is correctly aligned when I raise my arm and then lower it to align the sights at the height of the target, even with my eyes closed ! https:/...

Re: What New Free Pistol
Very often, the part of the grip where the thumb-trigger-finger crotch seats (just on the "hole" for the cleaning rod) remains too thick, and too "round". Remove one half of the grip, and look if you can remove some material to move your hand deeper in the grip. Once you made thi...

Re: Toz 35 vs. Morini grip
Difficult to answer without pics ... Trying with one part only fitted seems to be a good idea, as rmca suggested it, to see where it touches the wood. Then remove excess with a small chisel or file. Or maybe after trying to cock the pistol a few times you will see where exactly the grip is marked. P...

Re: TOZ-35M differenes in grading
Arghhhh ... ******** gorgeous grip ! Never heard of any grading system for the TOZ 35 . The only thing I know about mine is that in the operator's manual it is mentionned that it grouped in less than 10 mm with "temp" cartridges at the bench . It always amazed me ... Moderator's note: Expl...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
Thanks for all your messages, it's great to share this kind of project. It would have been a pity to keep it for myself .... I cut the thumb rest, to align it with the grip lateral face : I prefer this shape. I have tried a little darker finish : still with beeswax, but once applied, I let the grip ...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
Thanks, it's my pleasure to share this adventure with you ! A little break, with the rehabilitation of the genuine screwdriver handle : ugly black plastic, replaced with a walnut handle, cut from a scrap of the block. And the blade and the ferrule are genuine, blue-steel, of course. It is rather lit...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
You know, I must confess one thing, I am cheating .... Currently, the grip is already finished, and I posted the pics behind schedule, step by step . It took me between 10 and 15 afternoons of work , during our containment period. I estimate the amount of work at around 30 or 40 hours. For these rou...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
The following is even more impressive : now, it really looks like an actual grip ! I cut parts of the base, to loose more weight, rounded the angles of the rear face, and re-shaped the arch : https://nsa40.casimages.com/img/2020/04/30/200430090803959518.jpg https://nsa40.casimages.com/img/2020/04/30...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
Yes, this was the first screw, And I was afraid it was not tough enough .... I have changed it, and I have thinned the arch, to loose weight . The pistol "naked" weighs 830 grammes. And the grip, with its screw, weighs 290. So, the overall package weighs 1120 grammes: not so bad ! https://...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
Hi Sean ! Congratulations, your TOZ is really wonderful ! The grip is very nicely shaped, and the pistol seems very well balanced. What is its weight now ? But your TOZ seems rather strange to me ... It's obviously a TOZ 35, not M, but one detail astonishes me : the "window" cut in the rec...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
A good idea, indeed ! I should have asked my daughter for some help ! Using my previous grip as a model, made some tracings to help drilling in the right places, with the right angles to prepare the trigger finger channel : https://nsa40.casimages.com/img/2020/04/12/200412092952122035.jpg And finall...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
This is the rear side, where my hand will enter to "grip" it.
At the bottom of the carved part, you can see the beguinning of the hole to prepare my finger trigger placement.
And below, at the base of the block, the hole of the attachment screw.

Back to the grip ... Quelques mesures, histoire de ne pas percer où il faut pas, avant d'attaquer la sculpture de l'empreinte de la crosse. Taking measures, to see exactly where to drill, before carving the palm print of the grip. https://nsa40.casimages.com/img/2020/04/11/200411102516411757.jpg Ens...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
Nothing special about tools : a budget press drill, that allows to drill "straight", in particular when you beginn the grip, when the block still has straight faces. It's easy to set the height of the plate, to drill at rhe right depth in the wood. You can even use it as a router/milling m...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
Next steps : after the finishing of the reciever housing, I worked on the upper of the block, to align it with the bolt. And then, on the left side of the block, I carved the thumb rest with a wood gouge, and finished with a rasp. https://nsa40.casimages.com/img/2020/04/10/200410080002626806.jpg htt...

Re: AP Raise
Because it's easier to hold your pistol at the height of the target when you lower your arm, rather than when you raise it and try to maintain it at the right height : gravitation is your friend ! And it allows you to prepare your shot : sight alignement, trigger squeeze, breathing, verification of ...

Sawed the front part of the block, to allow the correct seating of the reciever at the level of the trigger guard, and drilled a hole to allow the attachment of the gun to the grip with a long screw. Sciage de la face avant, pour caler l'arme au niveau du pontet, et perçage du trou pour la fixation ...

Thanks, it's kind of you ! Here are the next steps : work with wood chisel and gouge, to seat the reciever. Merci, c'est sympa. La suite : travail du bloc au ciseau à bois, pour continuer la découpe, pour encastrer la carcasse. Vu de face / face view : https://nsa40.casimages.com/img/2020/04/06/2004...

Re: Toz 35 Modifications
Hello Guys ! I hope this post will find you healthy, in these troubled times. Here in France we are also suffering from this f***ing Covid-19, and to fight against it, we must stay at home . This containment allowed me to work on my TOZ, and I realized this could be a nice opportunity to salute all ...
