I had only made it halfway through and I found it very informative as the experiences of people from many different countries were brought up and it was, at least halfway through, extremely deferential and polite. I hope the moderator reconsiders and puts the thread back up. As someone who enjoys gu...

On a similar note, check out Competitive Shooting by Yur'Yev. That and the coaching and shooting techniques of the Pistol Shooter's Treasury have been an integral part in my shooting. Competitive Shooting is about $80 on Amazon, which is well worth it. Hope this helps. Hi Orion, I got the book this...

Is the idea of a deep sub 6 that it's more like firing at a blank target? You can't possibly measure the distance (like the equal space photo shown earlier) so you simply settle into a comfortable a space that becomes consistent over time? I ask because it was suggested I try sub 6 and I've been wor...

Thanks so much for the review. I'd downloaded it but was a bit confused about it so hadn't bothered to use it until I read through your review and then I understood enough to try it out. One thing I find incredibly frustrating is the scoring on the target. Unless you're shooting 8 or better or 6 and...

Help finding a coach
I really love shooting bullseye. While I've only been shooting for a few weeks and only competed in one match I think I'd like to find a coach to help me before I develop any bad habits. I'm located in Portland and I've asked my local club for some suggestions which I'm looking into. I understand it...

Cascade Foam
Cascade Foam - much better than what comes in a pelican case. Might have to buy a full sheet but call and ask about scraps or partial sheets.
http://www.toolfoam.com/
Their site shows how to cut it and if you use a different color base foam you get a nice looking cut out.

This has been a very illuminating thread. I didn't realize there was so much involved with iron sights and, for my air pistols at least, I'm going concentrate on developing my sub 6 hold. The comment about everything going on at the gun makes a lot of sense. When I shoot the dot it's a very differen...

Okay, I tried it last night and got one of the better groups I've gotten with my FWB 65 but I think it's going to take some time. It feels very vague and imprecise so i find it ironic that it is the hold used for such precision shooting. Thanks for the tips - I'll look for more information on the ho...

You're right, they mostly use a sub six hold, but he was choosing between the two options he offered. Sakamura, use a sub-six hold. Can you explain the difference between 6 o'clock and sub 6? I see that one is resting the site on the bottom of the black and sub 6 is leaving space between the lined ...

I was shooting tonight at our range. There was a guest shooter from the Portland area there, so I put the question to him. He said to contact the Portland Rifle and Pistol Club; that they had lots of airgun activity. Good luck! That's funny because that's the club I belong to. Of course I have only...

Makes sense I guess. I just find iron to be much less precise but I suppose that's the inherent difficulty. I'd love to compete in air pistol as well but there doesn't seem to be any options here in the Pacific North Wet. That leads to my next question then about iron sights: in Olympic or air pisto...

Training with an air pistol question
So I'm just getting started in Bullseye and I picked up a couple of air pistols to train with in the garage. It helps with getting the process down but one thing I find confusing is the sites. If you shoot with a dot on your bullseye gun (i do) should you be training with the same or similar on your...

Yes, there's dust involved from the sanding so I take the grip off (which was a good excuse to clean the gun). I remove the grip to do that and then screw it together again off the gun so as to keep the join even. If you can remove the grip and take it home you could probably do it in an evening. ht...

I just dealt with this as I bought a Hammerli 208 that came with some very ugly (and not well fitting) build up. It seems it was two different material; one was a firm green putty and the other was a brown autobody type putty that was just globbed on and then poked with holes. Ugly. The green putty ...
