Have you tried shooting a big competition without a scope?

I was in Bern shooting the European Cup Centerfire pistol. In the invitation it said that Sius-targets would be used so I didn't bring a scope. Well... no Sius! So I had to shoot without a scope and relying on only on self confidence and the feeling of doing it right. During the sighting serie I sho...

I bought an AP40 which is pretty light. I then added the large barrelweight from Hämmerli and it's right benieth the barrel and I put it close to the trigger. It gave a nice feeling of balance. It's not flimsy but it's not very front heavy either.

Personally I think FP is a lot harder than AP. On scored training I shoot 540-550 in FP and 575-583 in AP. On competitions the scores are usually 540-550 in FP and 573-578 in AP. Sometimes a little higher, sometimes a little lower. But, does anyone else think that FP is harder than AP? (I'm not talk...

There is nothing holy about the number 550, it's just that it's not until you reach scores in that area (+/- 10p) where you shoot nines, tens and some eights (and occasionally some sevens). And that's when you should start thinking seriously about your equipment rather than your skills as a shooter....

Not until you reach 550. I started shooting AP with a FWB65 and scored 585, then bought a Hämmerli AP40.

Your fiveshooter will do just fine right now.

Good luck!

I use ordinary targets and a spotting scope. But sometimes I shoot at electronic targets with my AP (some ranges here have them). I try not to keep that much track on my scores, but I mostly I can feel where it's going and sometimes after a training day I sum up the targets to see if the feel is on ...

The only MG2 I've seen in action has never worked very well. A local shooter uses it for standard pistol and rapid fire and it just keeps on malfunctioning. It jams all the time. :(

Don't grip your pistol too hard. And try to have you little finger very relaxed. Also, what pistol do you use? If you have a cheap/old pistol you should consider a modern "better" model? I'm not a very good standard pistol shooter myself. I have no problem whatsoever with the 150's where I...

Free Pistol 550. Perhaps 150-300 shots per week, this varies a lot. Centerfire 575. I'd think something 100-200 shots per week, this also varies a lot. Air Pistol. 580. I only shoot in the winter, but I'd guess ~300 per week. This is not competition though, only training. The results are sometimes a...

Ah, there... those nines and tens.. =) 561 today (ok, it was practice, but still...) One seven and some eights, but I think some 52 or 53 shots were inside the nine. It's funny how sometimes even those shots that feels really bad are nines. I just enjoyed the sunny (but cold) day and had some fun. T...

Arsenal? Why would you need more than one AP? So the beginner you introduce to the sport can fire on the same relay as you...(smile) Take Care, Ed Hall http://www.airforceshooting.org/ http://www.starreloaders.com/edhall/ Ah, I see. Well I would just let him/her use my pistol in another relay and h...

I don't think I would like to have my 32 set to ~1120/280g. With that amount of pressure on the trigger in the first stage the duelling would probably be a very nervous part of the competition. One slight mistake and you get 10 points down in the ground. After that you would need to shoot 29 tens to...

ruig, The result (goal) is +560, the method is be doing exactly what you say: Nines and tens. I have no problem with that.. =) _Axel_ Yes the Hämmerli most surely can be adjusted in every way. But it was not my gun, I borrowed it. The grip didn't even fit, it was so big that I didn't have very much ...

I have a Morini CM84E with something like 8-10g triggerweight. I will try some more weight too. When I started shooting FP last year I had an old Hämmerli with ~20-25g triggerweight. I didn't like that, it was too light to be "active" (having the finger on the trigger and squezing) and it ...

Finally it's getting warmer here

Got some triggertime with my new free pistol, and it was a pleasure to shoot! A nice 550 and a "final" @ 96 points (two nines and an eight). Series 4 and 5 were spectacular. two sevens, one eight, three nines... and 14 tens. =) Can't wait until I get to Hannover and Plzen this spring, this...

I think there is a mechanical triggerunit for the old standard GSP that can do 5 clicks. But I don't think it will fire the gun, it's for practice only.

(I think.)
