Yes I've seen it. When I tested ammo on a training camp this winter we tested some batches of RWS and HN pellets in two Hämmerli AP40's and a FWB-something (one of the newer models) and most pellets performed very well but one batch of RWS (R10 I think) went all over the target with both Hammerlis a...

It definately has impact on the scores. Why would I choose a pellet that hits with a +/- 12mm marginal instead of one that has a 2mm marginal? Because yes, some ammunition just won't do any good in some pistols, and some will do much better.

Thank you, it was one of those days when everything seemed to work out just the way you want to. Tycho: When was this? Last time I spoke with mr Skanaker he used Norma 1 and 2. They are not very cheap at all, but he is sponsored by Norma. However I don't think he would go to the WC or Olympics with ...

I have a little less recoil with lighter pellets too. Not that it's much but it's slightly noticable.

The influence of the weight is on the pellet speed, lightweight pellets should be faster => need less time to travel through the barrel => less sensitive to small barrel movements. This is at least what RWS claims to justify the 0.45g pistol pellets compared to the 0.53g rifle pellets. Hehe, but th...

In my Hammerli AP40 I use HN Finale Match. The 4,50mm 0,49g pellet grouped slightly better than 4,50mm 0,53g. I found a batch that grouped extremely well (a 15 shot grouping was just about 6mm wide end to end) so I bought all the bullets (7500pcs) available. On a side note. RWS R10 0,45g and 0,53g g...

Mine works fine with Eley ammo. Actually the cheap yellow Standard Pistol cartrigde works very well. I shot 565 with it.

I'm not trying to be a smartass or something. It's just that I've never seen a match with 5 shots per target. We don't have that much electronic targets here in Sweden either, but some ranges do have them. For example the national championship is usually nowadays shot on Megalink targets. When shot ...

You should have seen the final in the 50m pistol event. Omelchuk (RUS) had the chance to shoot +102p. After nine shots he had nothing lower than 9,9 and a 10,7 would give him 102p! But unfortnately he only shot a 9,4. But 100,7 was a very nice result and he climbed from 8 to 6th place. Another great...

"this has never happen to me before, at least in competitions. " Forget about it, move along and enjoy your next competition. Or else you can go to the next competition thinking about your last score that sucked and that you must never ever do something like that again. This time you have ...

Am I the only one in here who thinks that all factors are connected in one way or another? For example: A wobbly hold leads to a defensive mood in the shooting. Grip gets tighter, you're not sure if you want to release the shot, you're not sure of exactly where you are on the target and that leads t...

I have a very easy excercise too: When I sit with my computer and do something that doesn't require me typing constantly on the keyboard I pick up my AP and just hold it out in the air. Not concentrating on it, just holding it straight out. Extremely simple and after a couple of days it's no problem...

I base a lot of my performance on my hold. I have a _very_ rigid hold, and it let's me do whatever I want to during those 5-7 seconds. Do I want to release the shot? If so I can do it in an active and offensive (but of course smooth) action. Do I want to raise the point of impact a little? Do I want...

The main focus is on the release of the shot and a smooth triggerwork. The sights won't move out of the alignment and my hold is very rigid (ask tobiasl here for reference, hehe). The only thing moving at this moment is my body and sometimes the arm from the shoulder. Those movements are seldom enou...

I have something in between. The heavy trigger weight (~100g) caused a lot of really bad shots due to violent releases. I think the weight now is somewhere around 40-45g and it feels pretty much perfect for me. I'm shooting "active", I decide when I want to release the shot. I have the fin...

Thanks! =) Now let's just hope I can perform like that on the european championships later this summer. That would probably mean a quota for the olympics which is obviously the goal. =) A little sidenote: 24h after the 565 in free pistol I raised the record at the range in Upplands Vasby in precisio...

I have a very slight contact with my thumb which reduces some of the shots that goes in the 9 ring to the left if I accidently force the trigger to the right.
But as mentioned before - do not press with your thumb or the shots will go anywhere but in the 10. I mostly shoot +575 so it works for me.
