Thanks, Yeah I come back refreshed after each small break so each 20 shot set is fine. Oh I realise it will take time to incorporate and get used to. My position used to be quite tight have only just loosened it up to bring me a little bit lower to the ground as well as provide less tension so that ...

Hi Robb, Yeah I've spent time learning to settle into my position by constantly getting in and out of position after each shot. So there's no problem when I get back down. Just wondering If it's beneficial learning to hold for longer than a standard set of 20 or going about as I usually do, which by...

Pushing Through Fatigue
Posted: Wed Oct 10, 2012 4:49 pm Post subject: Pushing Through Hey all, Being that at my club each stage is 20 scoring, unlimited sighters and a time limit of 30mins. I have only really been able to stay in prone position without fatigue for roughly that time limit. During 60 shot matches, My first ...

Oh and you really do not want to keep your bolt closed if you get up from your gun. You face a warning or disqualification for safety violations. That's what breech flags are for. Rob. Thanks, thought that mightn't be the case as the wrist doesn't exactly beef up. I don't know if this last part was...

If you 'shoot through the pain' for a long period of time, you risk causing yourself muscle, nerve, or tendon damage. I certainly damaged what I believe to be my brachial nerve a couple of years back - which meant an enforced break of a couple of months. Practically though I don't understand why yo...

I usually do 5-10 sighters then do all 20. Then I break after each set of 20 shots. Some people don't like to get out of position, but personally I find it is refreshing and allows me to maintain good mental focus. My coach has got me to do entire practice matches shooting one shot at a time, gettin...

The ones Dave posted are OK for recording score and shot fall, but there's little space for much else - i.e. all the important bits ;) I made one up from one our national pistol coach used initially but then I went to free text. For me the idea was to have template to remember what to write, but fr...

With a view to doing what with it exactly ? Are you looking to simply record scores, scores + shot position ? or things like range details, wind, equipment, goals for the shoot, how it felt, learnings, areas that worked well, areas for improvement etc ? For the former any old notebook will do, unle...

Shooting log book for 50m prone
Hi guys, I'm not entirely sure if this has been brought up before (most likely has) but does anyone know of a good log book for 50m prone? Any preferences you guys have over others? Or even if there is one that has 5 targets for each log aka the one sighting target and the four surrounding scored ta...

.Not right or wrong obviously either way but I dont want to get to the stage where anticipation of it going or not going with a two stage trigger is concerned. I wouldn't say there's any anticipation with a two stage trigger, you know exactly when the release of the shot is, and if you've found you...

I'd definitely go for a two stage trigger, it allows you to focus completely on where you are throughout the shot process. With a single stage it can be hard to completely assert the moment of release for the shot, but with two stage you know exactly when the shot will release. It's also great for g...

Mind you the eskimo's have adaptated over thousands of years to living in a harsh environment that requires a high fat diet. Their body is far more capable of handling such a diet unlike us. Nevertheless its worth a look at, but as I've stated before, a standard food habit (not diet) of carbs, prote...

Oh yes that is already understood, I already maintain a high protein and amino acid level, mainly from good food sources. It's just in terms of body physiology carbs are the transporters of protein, most of your protein intake if not aided by a carbohydrate level, is not completely utilised by the b...

Yeah I do have reservation towards this idea of low carb high fat. I mean running on fat fuel doesn't sound too good on a long term basis. The body, especially when put to its extremes during physical exercises needs a good load of carbs for repair and recovery. Having such a restriction in diet, su...
