Re: Wisconsin Biathlon Guys

The only 2 real viable choices are going to be Anschutz or ESA at the moment. The importer for the Izzies has been giving folks excuse after excuse for the past few years. However, they have gotten in some Biathlon Basic 7-2s recently but they are 3-4 times the cost compared to 4 years ago. If the 7...

Devin Manufacturing is a company that makes biathlon targets. http://www.devinmfg.com/targetpage.html Because of air quality in the house, I don't think I want to shoot a cartridge in the basement. I need to come up with a way to trap the lead splatter from the pellets with this trap. Right now I ha...

Indoor Biathlon Target

I have no affiliation with the manufacturer of this scaled down biathlon target. http://www.rimfiresteel.com/ I'm not sure how I found the target, but I thought it was pretty cool and I hoping to use it in my basement with my air rifle. I ordered it on Monday and Brown just dropped it off a few hour...

My harness rail is mounted on the other side of the toggle. Why would anyone mount the harness rail on the same side as the toggle, magazine rack and extra bullet carrier??? Chris On the lefty Izhmash, the harness is mounted on the right side of the rifle. But because of the way the toggle works, i...

I still can't find the rule, but you may be correct that it is a regional rule. I remember at the WC in Fort Kent we saw athletes start with the bolt open. I always viewed that as a safety thing if a person fell and snow got into the bolt. It's been a few years since I've made either of those trips ...

At the start we are required to ski with magazine removed and the bolt open. This is how all the places here in the Northeast operate (Ethan Ellen, Ft Kent). After the first shooting stage are we then allowed to ski with the bolt closed. I can not find the rule in the IBU handbook. But I just re-wat...

Thanks for that info. Do you guys know of anyone who is selling the 7-3 or 7-4? What is the diiference between the 3 and the 4? I have heard the 7-3(4) has issues shooting in cold weather. How bad are these issues and at what tempurtures? The closest club to me is in Auburn California and South Lak...

Not sure of the difference between the 2 rifles. They read to be about the same except 1 comes with sights and the other does not After you add in the cost to make it ready for a winter biathlon, the cost will be higher than if you were to buy a 7-3 or 7-4 new. Yes the stuff that comes stock with th...

I'll usually go with another person so we can rotate through. If I'm on my own, I'll focus on shooting drills. I'm fortunate enough where I can have an entire range to myself and will practice harness transitions for prone and standing.

Here is a mixmaster Anschutz 54 repeater that could get you started.

All you need to is get 3 more magazines, the hardware to mount the harness and sling. The cuff, sling and you are ready to race.

You can't go wrong if you can get a 7-4 for under $1000! Are you doing summer or winter biathlon? Depending on the cost of the 7-2, it might not be so cheap after getting magazines, a new front sight, a new rear sight, biathlon stock, harness sling, and cuff for winter biathlon. If you are just doin...

I thought there was a straight pull model that used a toggle, and then I thought there was also one where the 'pistol' grip on the rifle rotated to cycle the bolt. The one that uses a toggle would be the Izhmash 7-4 or 7-3. If you are in the US you won't see too any new ones for sale unless they ar...

Re: ESA Rifle

I have 4 and am using them with my Juniors in the Northeast (45 minutes due West of Boston). How's the trigger adjustment? I have a MarK II .22 mag with an accutrigger. When adjusted to minimum pressure, it's still relatively stiff compared to an Izshmash. Is ESA able to set the trigger release pres...

For the most part, rifles will be racked. So snow covers aren't really necessary for now.

Can you take pics of you set up for future reference though?

rear sight help

I found a few older Anschutz rifles with turn bolts. None of them have rear sights. I was wondering if anyone here has used this sight. http://www.championshooters.com/store/product.php?productid=775&cat=328&page=1 I am trying to build up a youth program outside of Boston and am doing it out...
