WTB: Ransom Rest

Looking to do some more advanced load development and have decided that a Ransom Rest would be a worthwhile investment over just using sandbags. If anyone here has one they're looking to part with let me know!

Airpistol is a very good training pistol for any other match. It works well with all the basics, stance, trigger, grip, sight picture etc.... in a indoor controlled enviroment. Free pistol is in a world of its own, very light trigger, wrap around grip, long sight radius, little or slight feedback, ...

Dumb question? Differences between 10m AP and 50m Pistol

So maybe this is a dumb question, but other than caliber, firearm type, and length, how are the 10m AP events and 50m free pistol events different? It seems to me like they're both very similar (at least to a relatively inexperienced individual haha).

The reason why your pump/tank gets hot/cold actually has to do with the fact that at high pressures air does not behave like an ideal gas, and hence cannot be modeled using PV=nRT. The heating with rapid compression and cooling with rapid expansion is a strong function of entropy generation when the...

FWB 102 Maintenance

Hey Guys,

I've had my FWB 102 for a few months now and after shooting about 750 rounds through it I'm beginning to wonder just what sort of maintenance I should be performing to keep my pistol function flawlessly.

I think most high level shooters use a "6'oclock" hold in which the front sight lies tangent to the very bottom of the black circle of the target, in which the black front sight is technically on the white of the target paper. People do this just because it's easier to discern precise poin...

Yeah the barrel is surplus from a m16. My goal was to practice chambering and headspacing with it and then put a better barrel on my finished pistol once I have the kinks all worked out of my action.

So it sounds like 300mm overall length is about ideal?

J-team: that's a beautiful pistol! Any chance I could get some close up pictures of your action and maybe a barrel length and diameter? I've got my little martini action all sketched and measured out, but a bolt action might be a bit easier to make in the end. Any other technical specs I could get? ...

building a free pistol?

Hey guys, This probably seems kinda crazy but I have access to a full machine shop and as an engineer I think my next project will be to try to build a free pistol of my own design. Looking at the ISSF rule book it really seems like free pistols really are "free" when it comes to their des...

Yeah ! Great mod ! Its the first time I see this one. I can see you use a springloaded ball to index the breech in closed&locked position. It's the part of the modification that frightens me the most ... I had thought I could use this device : http://i48.servimg.com/u/f48/12/78/65/23/pousso10.j...

Printable free pistol target

Anyone have a printable 50m free pistol target that I could print out? I'm going shooting with a buddy next weekend who has an older free pistol I wanted to give a try but he doesn't have any targets so I figured I'd try to print some out. A quick search of the database here on TT didn't yield anyth...

Re: Affordable pellets

Vogels are excellent pellets. Maybe you should try a variety of sizes to see what works in your individual pistol. A bit of a search here will provide you with a lot of pellet info. But to shoot a lot, I use RWS Basic at $48.00 a sleeve of 5000. 7.0 grain wadcutters that seem as clean and uniform a...

Voegel Training Pellets for FWB102?

What type and diameter should I get for my FWB102 for practice in my apartment 9m range (on reduced targets)? I know my pistol likes RWS R-10 match pistol pellets but I'd like something a bit more affordable (and I'd like to give Pilkguns my business since I've learned so much from this forum) for p...

That's a really good idea BarryB, especially since I'll be shooting in an apartment where noise control is very important.

Anyone know where to get 10AP targets, how high to hang them (as measured to where), and how to define exactly from where on is supposed to shoot?

Hey I'm looking to setup a small range in my apartment to allow me to shoot 10m AP. I've loved all the ranges I've seen thus far, but I'm looking for a simple (and inexpensive) range setup to let me get some trigger time in. I've got just shy of 10m along the diagonal of my apartment from the entry ...

Good price for a FWB102?

The pistol's in great condition, has original user manual, test target, and grip adjustment wrench, an aluminum carrying case and two additional front sights. What's a good price for that pistol?

$620 for a recently refurbished FWB 80, good deal?

Found a gentleman who's willing to sell me a FWB 80 that's been recently refurbished for $620 for shipping. It appears to show no wear or blemishes. As a starter pistol is this a good deal, or am I better off getting an IZH 46m (either new or used, preferably used in my case)? Also, does anyone know...
