The real question here is not whether it matters or not, the real question is "Does it work for you?" Concern yourself not with how others breathe, their lungs are not yours, their ability process oxygen is certainly going to be different than yours. If it works for you, then do it. Chris

At risk of a debate, I will say that nearly every bullseye shooter buys points. Very few shooters shot a stock, cheap gun in competition. Nearly every 1911 or other pistol is modified in some way or another to be competitive If you added a red dot sight, you bought points. If you had a trigger job d...

I have tried a number of different grips on the 41 and didn't really like any of them till I got the CMM grips. The CMM grips make the 41 feel very much like a 1911 and the skate board tape helps keep the gun stable in my hand. While they are around $200.00, I feel it was money well spent. The stock...

In some states I believe you have to have the guns locked in a box when transporting them in you vehicle. If I also recall correctly, the ammo also has to be in a locked box and in some areas a separate box from the guns.

Changed the address for my website...

Hi shooters, I changed the URL of the website to www.2700-270x.com in hopes that it will be easier for people to remember where it is and that it is easier to tell people how to find it. The website started out as just a thing to pass the morning hours, I really didn't want to spend any money on it ...

Thanks for the kind words guys. As time allows I will be adding a lot more to it and tweaking the content that is there. If you know other shooters that might like to see it, please pass along a link to it.

Good luck on the line!

Frankly I do not see any benefit to starting out with iron sights knowing that you are eventually going to shoot with a red dot. Whether shooting with iron sights or red dots, you still have to accomplish the same things, careful trigger control and keeping your point of aim on target. With iron sig...

For me it depends on my eyes and hold. If I can see clearly and my hold is steady, I use the smallest dot for everything. If I am not seeing so good or my hold is a bit more shaky, I will go up a size on the dot. I make no effort to settle on a specific size for either short or long line, or for tha...

I would only consider two choices at this point in time: 1) S&W model 41 - will shoot better than you can 2) Marvel conversion of a 1911 - easier to switch between 45 and rimfire I shoot a model 41 and while i average a 285 score with it, I know it shoots better than I can. It is easily capable ...

Thanks all of you. One more question for those who raise above. How far above do you raise the gun? Thanks a lot. Some guys raise their arm so high, you would think they are pointing towards God for help. If you really want to do it, just pick a point slightly above the target. If you end up at a c...

This is more of a personal thing than a specific technique. More so today than in years past and the reason is, some clubs do not allow you to raise the gun above the berm behind the targets for safety reasons. Myself, I raise above the target and then let the sights come down to it. The muscles in ...

Re: Dear Chris

In one of my training sessions, my coach told me not to worry about the wiggle, the wobble, or the shakes. His reasoning is as follows: They attached lasers to quite a number of shooters on their accomplished bullseye team. They found that once the laser settled down, from 3 seconds to 9 seconds, t...

You don't look at both the bull and the dot, just the bull. They should both be sharp, though. If not, you need glasses. There is no "depth of field"; they should both be on the same plane optically. Squeezing the grip too hard will make you shake. It sounds like you're improving, though,...

I have tried the squeeze and hold method, not a good method. Leads too quickly to jerking the trigger as a habit. I have also tried, and will again this morning, to focus on the target and not the dot. I don't believe my eyes will allow me to do that. My depth of field is so short that the dot ends ...

Hi Dan, thanks for the response. I am probably usin the wrong terms but... Wobble - big movement of arm, perhaps called sway, generally a slow movement. Shake - small movement, mostly in hand, fast movement With practice I have gotten the wobble or sway down to the point where I am mostly looking at...

What do you see when looking through your scope?

Hi guys, My shooting is improving more and more. While still focusing on all the fundamentals, I am curious about one limitation that I don't understand. When I am looking through my red-dot scope at the target, my wobble is minimal but my shake is pretty bad. Between the shake and wobble, the red d...

Few people can perform at perfection 100% of the time. We all have bad days in all aspects of our lives. Moving past those "bad days" is tough, but something we must do, we grieve and get over it. I used to get totally wound up with just a bad shot in the middle of a match, let along blowi...
