It's funny that I found this post after shooting with my wife tonight. This spring I purchased a used and very abused Ruger MKII that was sent to Clark Custom to create a special toy for my wife. I know you're talking about a 1911 but want to convey the quality of work you'll receive from Clark. I w...

I have three of the micros. (long story) and I am looking to sell or trade them all. I prefer the longer tube of the ultradot, how easy they are to adjust on the line, and the weight they put on the front of my gun. For consistencies sake, I want the Ultradots on all my guns and will be going to a ...

One responder is partly correct. It takes more energy to operate the slide-mounted dot therefore you'll have to load a little hotter. But, you'll find that your felt recoil will be less because of the additional mass attached to that slide. The slide moves considerably slower as well, I can feel it ...

I personally load 3.1 gr. of Bullseye behind a Zero 158gr. SWC, while some of my shooting buddies load upwards of 3.4-3.5 gr. of Bullseye. I found when I tested 3.4 gr. loads that they weren't as accurate as the 3.1 gr. It's not X-ring accurate but well within the 10-ring at 50 yards.

I personally have found that 3 out of 4 of MY Ultradots had parallax issues when checked at 50 yards. I replaced all of them with Aimpoint Micros. Parallax can definitely cause the issue you've described above.

I think testing is a valid point. Do/have you ever tested any ammo prior to using it in a match? More than likely you've run many rounds through your guns to verify their accuracy with a given load, whether it be centerfire or rimfire. Based on the tone of your response I must have hit a sensitive s...

What I have observed is the bushing to slide fit loosens quicker with more frequent cleanings. Of the many custom 45's I've had built this has been a consistent observation. To answer your first question, Yes. To answer your section question, I usually run 7500 miles in between oil changes on all my...

Around 3 thousand. I noticed the bushing to slide fit loosens quickly by cleaning after every or every other range session. I just keep the oil flowing in the gun (a tightly fit Caspian custom build) and she runs without any issues. I do add a couple drops of oil to the brass casing on the top of ev...
