I don`t believe a chronograph test is part of the crossing process. They have a list of airguns that are classified as firearms and they are considered as unless you have specific documentation stating it has been legitimately modified to less than 500 fps.

But any airgun (pistol or rifle) with a muzzle velocity of over 500fps is considered a firearm in Canada. Doesn`t matter whether it is a pistol or rifle. Quite a few Americans participate in the annual Toronto airgun event and bring 500fps+ airguns across the border with little trouble. They just fi...

I would post your question to the Canadian shooting AP/AR forum at: http://www.targetshooting.ca/wwwboard/index.html If my memory serves me correctly you can get a temporary permit at Canadian Customs when entering the country. It is true that airguns with a velocity of <500 fps are not considered f...

Try contacting one of the Canadian air gun stores (e.g. Targets Canada in Hull/Ottawa) and ask them how to do it or if you can send it through them for a small fee.

These stricter laws are - I`m sure - in response to joint US-Canadian security negotiations that have taken place since 9/11. The US border is even more strict. I am an American living in Canada traveling with a US passport and get a 3rd Degree grilling every time I travel to the US. It is too bad t...

I have one of the new FWB P700 aluminum rifles. It is excellent and I am very happy with it, but I`m not certain it would be worth trading your LG300.

Definitely start with a jacket and glove. They will have the most positive impact (equipment wise) on your shooting.

Good luck.

Re: What about out in the countryside?

In my minds eye I think of Australia and Canada of having vast undeveloped areas containing a great variety of life that can be a danger to human and domestic animals... It would be difficult to participate in competitions if you are several hundred miles away from any population centers. Are the r...

Craig, Given your acknowledgment regarding the source of America's crime problem, why do you favor strict firearms regulation? I guess I should first ask, what regulation do you favor and why? Mark Fair question. First, I don`t think that all the data is necessarily in yet. The correlation between ...

As an advocate of firm firearm regulation (not banning), and as one who believes it is a privilage and not a right, I wish I could say there was a stronger correlation between gun control and gun related homicide. Although the US has the highest firearm homicide rate in the industrialized world (3.7...

I believe that most AP's produce less than 6 ft.lbs. of energy. For example, an 8 grain pellet shooting at a velocity of 525 fps will produce 4.9 ft. lbs. of energy.

Here is a nifty online muzzle energy calculator.

A friend of mine uses an inexpensive security camera for target monitoring. Rigged it to a tripod, a $50 B&W used tv, and voila . . . a very nice monitor.

What about a webcam? Cheap, small and light. Hook it up to your laptop and you might have a nice view. Or . . . put the webcam on a tri-pod or some other attachment close to the target and 10m of "active" USB wire to your laptop.

In Canada, any rifle or pistol shooting over 500 fps is considered a firearm and requires an ownership license and transportation permit. This means that all competitive air rifles and pistols fit this category. How...
