Re: When to get a better pistol?

When you have the funds. Of course, you might not get better scores than with the IZH but you might enjoy shooting more (for a while).

Re: SSP vs. CO2

Co2 Walthers are a good choice. They have great grips and balance, unlike the Baikal. If the Walther is the better deal will depend on the price and work needed: new cylinders are expensive.

Re: Is there US Duty and taxes charged on imported airguns?

As you can see, one should never do math before their first coffee! You got it right, 11.9% taxes in the US. Some people do report not having it charged/collected, indeed, but that's a risk on your end. A few states don't collect on online transactions but NY isn't one of them. Sorry, can't help you...

Re: Is there US Duty and taxes charged on imported airguns?

My mistake, then swap USPS for UPS.
Sales tax in NY state is 4%, Clinton county will also charge you 4% taxes in Champlain. Throw in the 3.9% duties... 8.9%. Then add the +/- 15% of the CAD value at the border.

Re: Is there US Duty and taxes charged on imported airguns?

He can have it shipped to a forwarding company like Freeport in Champlain and declare it at the border. He'll have to pay the US taxes and brokerage fee to USPS which I don't think Freeport will pay for him in advance. He'll have to pick it up at a USPS dropoff point, then declare it at the canadian...

Re: morini 162E eating batteries

Most likely yes and Morini won't repair it. Contact them and see what they offer. If they'll only sell you one (250$ iirc), you can try to soften the epoxy with heat and scrape it off. Then, bring it to an electronics repair person, that stuff is easy to fix.

I was being ironic. I'm pretty sure the 20 and 10 years max Morini cylinders are exactly the same.

Re: Quiet quality pellet trap in US

Pretty easy to make one yourself with duct seal but if you're a good enough shot, the pellets will stack in the middle and start welding themselves together and thus, making noise and fly everywhere. You'll have to clean it often, which is a pain. Just get the Gehmann and be done with it. It's not t...

Re: Compressor specs for PCP filling

Just get yourself a SCUBA tank and avoid the headaches of a compressor if it's only to fill a single airgun. Add a hand pump eventually to top up your cylinders.

I'd say, keep on training with the 46M. That is ample training. Patrick Haynes suggested some hold exercices on his targetshooting.ca website, check it out.

Thanks for participating Dan! But after the 1st month you were the only one on there so there was not much point in continuing.

Anybody knows what's the deal with the targetshooting.ca postal? It seems Patrick pulled the database option on the web site.

Re: Speed of Izh vs. Steyr

The problem with the izh is that you need to constantly lube the piston and breech seals for it to have optimal velocity. IIRC, mine shot at around 485-490 with 7gr, which is pretty much the same as what my Morini is set at. No tears with good, dry targets.

Re: What kind of Air Pistol?

If you can't shoot over 500 with a Izzy, you probably won't do with a PCP or Co2 pistol. They are not much 'easier' to shoot but easier to tweak (a thing I feel newbies shouldn't overly do). I think the rule of thumb is: 'buy it if you have the money'.
