Just get yourself a SCUBA tank and avoid the headaches of a compressor if it's only to fill a single airgun. Add a hand pump eventually to top up your cylinders.

I'd say, keep on training with the 46M. That is ample training. Patrick Haynes suggested some hold exercices on his targetshooting.ca website, check it out.

Anybody knows what's the deal with the targetshooting.ca postal? It seems Patrick pulled the database option on the web site.

I revived a free monthly but stopped it due to lack of participation.

The problem with the izh is that you need to constantly lube the piston and breech seals for it to have optimal velocity. IIRC, mine shot at around 485-490 with 7gr, which is pretty much the same as what my Morini is set at. No tears with good, dry targets.

I think most greases you have on hand would do the trick.

If you can't shoot over 500 with a Izzy, you probably won't do with a PCP or Co2 pistol. They are not much 'easier' to shoot but easier to tweak (a thing I feel newbies shouldn't overly do). I think the rule of thumb is: 'buy it if you have the money'.
