I only occasionally shoot small bore prone but have found this to be helpful. Take an additional handstop and place it in front of your normal handstop. Attach your sling to that. The extra handstop for your sling helps to take excessive pressure off your hand. It also allows you to adjust your actu...

I am an HP Prone shooter and started with a pair of Champion Olympic style glasses. My front sight has a .5 diopter as well. The Champion style glasses have been replaced by Decot Hy-Wides. The reason for that is I was looking for protection for both eyes, which the Champion's didn't have. My Decots...

Has this site changed?

Did I miss something here. I thought this sight was for shooting information. Now I am getting reviews of DVDs and postings for electronic cigarettes?

What gives?

One other thing to try. I use a small diameter handstop. That small dia. helps keep from spreading my thumb and fore finger and causing discomfort. Also, I place an extra handstop in front on the handrail and attach my sling to it. That takes a bunch of pressure off the back side of my hand. An addi...

Dude, Thanks for the reply. I shoot the SB matches to keep tuned for the MR and LR centerfire matches that are my passion. My 1913 does have one of the older "L" sights and I find that with the bloop tube, it takes 5 clicks just to move one bullet hole distance. Indoors no problem but outs...

In thinking about setting up a new rifle for SB prone shooting, don't overlook the 30mm front sights. They offer a great view of the target as well as being very adjustable for the different ranges. You don't really have to worry about the adjustment range of the rear sight when you use a front sigh...

Dude, I only compete in SB prone matches a few times a year. Half the matches are indoors (50 ft) because of the cold weather and the other half are outside in the Summer. My rifle is an Anschutz 1913 with a 12" bloop tube that I have a 30mm Rite site attached. So there are the basics. Now here...

Mike, I don't remember, do you use a bloop tube on your smallbore rifle? If so, what diameter front sight do you use, 22mm or 30mm? Recently I installed a 12 inch bloop tube with a 30mm Ritesite on the Anschutz. Man, that is a pretty good sight picture. I do have to open the front iris up all the wa...

You can order a short "Jacket" from Creedmore. It is a coat that comes just about to your belt. Ordered mine with cordura body and leather sleeves. Vents in the side and shorter sleeves than my hardback. The coat is strictly for prone shooting and the material is much lighter, no quilted p...

recently I did the same testing in my 1913. 50 yd and 100 yd with Wolf ME and MT, SK Rifle Match, Fed Match 711B, Ely Black Box, and Midas+. Midas + was the best with Fed Match 711B and SK Rifle Match equal for being second. Ely BB was third in overall group size at both distances. Shot a regional S...

Re: Handstop question

I am using the MEC handstop as well but added this to the equation. In order to keep the sling pressure off the back of my hand and wrist, I placed an additional handstop toward the front of the rail and attached my sling to that. Now, sling pressure is independent (and consistent) from the handstop...

Re: Lapua Midas+ ammo

Shot Ely black box eps, Ely Club, Lapua Midas L, MasterL and Midas M. Hands down, my Anschutz 1913 with scope shot the Lapua into little holes at 50 yds. and that was prone with a sling. Bob Which of those 3 Lapua did the best for you? The Midas M was the best followed by the Midas L. Older ammo th...

Lapua Midas+ ammo

Everyone discusses the various Ely, Wolf and SK brands of ammo but do any of you shoot Lapua. Specifically the Midas+ type. Recently did some ammo testing with different types of Ely and Lapua ammo. Shot Ely black box eps, Ely Club, Lapua Midas L, MasterL and Midas M. Hands down, my Anschutz 1913 wi...
